Guest guest
Be sure to avoid Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas. There have been cases of Permanent Regression in the ASD population after its use. Guest guest
Can your child use " versed " ? Also use Methyl B-12 to help from the sedation meds before and after. > > Be sure to avoid Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas. Guest guest
It is the doctors call but EEG can and is usually had without sedation (even 24 hour ones)Some folks take a sleeping MRI at night that you need to get admitted for (insurance may allow for the admission)To: mb12valtrex Sent: Monday, October 24, 2011 11:52 AMSubject: Re: MRI brain and EEG next week, need help with sedation Can your child use "versed"? Guest guest
Has anyone really tried versed? Honestly I am scared to use anything as my son is very sensitive. He had appendectomy in january this year and probably had propofol as anesthetic. I'll get his records from the hospital and verify. is > > > > Be sure to avoid Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas. Guest guest
My friend's son has mito/autism and he has had versed. She is a pediatric nurse. We haven't used it and I would be scared still, but that is probably the one I would try if forced to use SOMEthing. :-\We used benedryl for my son's MRI. They wanted to use some other thing to make him sleepy that they said sometimes doesnt work, but it can cause respiratory and cardiac depression, I believe. My son has a heart murmur so I was concerned... I have used benedryl on him before and know he is ok with it and falls asleep. So it worked out fine. He fell asleep and I was by his side thru the MRI (I could reach his leg to sort of subconsciously console him with my touch) The lady who did his first EEG was really good and talked about silly things like spaghetti hair etc and he was very patient with her. The second EEG in the hospital was not as easy but the lady was not as playful and fun. Admittedly however my son has always been really good for doctor/nurse staff, only has a fit about being stuck. I would look online for a social story about EEG and if you can't find one, there's a kids book on epilepsy on Amazon, it has a great explanation in it.This is the book http://www.amazon.com/Mommy-Funny-Childs-Experience-Epilepsy/dp/1932279539/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1319514830 & sr=8-1-fkmr1 and sorry it looks like it's hard to get, but maybe you have time to get it? If not maybe a library in the area can get it for you. Â Has anyone really tried versed? Honestly I am scared to use anything as my son is very sensitive. Guest guest
Oh PS you could just ignore the " epilepsy " parts of it, they talk abt MRI and EEG in it, good explanations. Guest guest
Thanks Pamela! I called the hospital and they are willing to use versed and I told them that I will not allow any other anesthetic agent. Hopefully, it will go ok. Guest guest
Versed is very short-acting. Just FYI.
