Guest guest
Whenever I've looked stuff up about TN it says the pain comes from the nucleus of the trigeminal nerve in the brain and branches out in 3 directions. I'm not sure what I've been experiencing is actually true TN, or if its coming from my neck? My pins and needles and pain runs behind my right ear down the side of my neck and over and up the right side of my head where I feel pressure and bad pain. Its better today, but its been really bad all week. I thought it was my teeth, but when I put pressure on my teeth on that side it doesn't reproduce the sensation. There's a spot at the bottom of my skull on the right that when I massage it I can feel a zinger start up. So if its coming from my neck it could be connecting to the TN, but it wouldn't actually be a true TN dx. is what I am thinking. I have my lesion in my neck, and I'm wondering if another one is developing, or if the vertrabrae is pressing on nerves when I turn a certain way. Its getting better, but if it doesn't clear up all the way soon, I guess I'll have to get another MRI. Its been awhile. I don't have a Neuro, but my primary says she can take care of whatever I need. Fine with me! :-) So what do you all think? Hugs, Jackie Need Mail bonding?Go to the Yahoo! Mail Q&A for great tips from Yahoo! Answers users. Guest guest
Have you seen this site? There is a good sketch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigeminal_neuralgiaI don't know if what you have is TN or not. TN can be a hard one to dx from what I hear. I do have a strange 'zinging' that goes over my head and scalp sometimes too. I have a chronic aching on my left side around my ear and jaw. Then the acute stuff seems to hit my right side. Bilateral TN is more common in MSers but it doesn't always work that way.hugs to you! SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Usually for me, Jackie, the pain is in one or all 3 of the branches. One is in the eye--ocular. The 2nd branch is maxillary and is in the center of the cheek, right below the eye socket. The last is in the mandibular region, or jaw, and can feel like bad teeth pain. I suppose the pain might radiate into the neck, but primarily, the pain comes from one of the 3 sources I mention. It is a terrible attack when they all become innervated. I hope it is not TN for you, but certainly sounds like it may be. An MRI may or may not show a lesion there. Sometimes there is a vein or artery pressing on the nerve. The best to you on this. I hope your pain passes quickly.hugs, KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Sat, February 12, 2011 5:55:05 PMSubject: TN Question Whenever I've looked stuff up about TN it says the pain comes from the nucleus of the trigeminal nerve in the brain and branches out in 3 directions.
