Hello ,

Can someone help me with flours ???

I hve been using lots of chesnut flour because my doctor , here in my country ,

told me it was low oxalate .

I meke bread , biscuit and a lot of things with it .

Now , we are with SCD , and it is almost the only one flour i can use .

I had used white rice flour before .

But yesterday , when i was looking for information about salycilate food i found

in the list archive the reference of both flours and they are !! High oxalate

!!!

My daughter need to eat large amounts of carbs everyday because she has

hipoglycemia , and only with fruits and vegetables it is not enough for her . I

have to give her at 3.30 a.m. Some amount aditional because she cant be more

than 6 hours without eating some carbs .

Any sugestion ??

Thanks in advance

Isabel

Hi Isabel,I hope you're well. All this diet stuff can get so exhausting! I mean by no means an expert, but I am right there in the unusual diet trenches with you.Rice BRAN is higher in oxalates, but rice starch is lower. Chestnut flour is lower in oxalates. Are you using the SCD book " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " by Elaine Gottschalk? I think it would be helpful for you. Rice is not part of the SCD. Also, it does include specific carbs, as the name suggests, but in general, it is very, very low carb. You might want to discuss your daughter's hypoglycemia with your doctor, because, according to these kinds of diet -- carbs actually make the problem worse -- that's the " vicious cycle " part.

This list is a great resource, but it sounds like you are getting conflicting information. You shouldn't take my word for it, either, LOL! Please find a reputable resource that you trust and follow that information. I like Elaine Gottschalk and Natasha -McBride (GAPS diet), as well as Donna Gates (Body Ecology Diet). Even these experts do not all agree. Read, read, read, and then follow what resonates with you. It is also helpful to look these things up on YouTube.

Love and best wishes to you,Jean
