Guest guest
Hi Aolak, Just wanted to give you a feedback on kirkman phenol assist. We started that on saturday and I have a feeling that my son has also become more hyper, and seems like going thru yeast die off. He was much better for two days when we ran out of no phenol and then when I added phenol assist, he started getting hyperactive, has lots of verbal stimms and is getting cranky easily. Will stop tomorrow and observe. is > > Hi is, All > > > I have a 5 yr old son who is high on the Autism spectrum. He is completely non verbal though he does a lot of babbling. One of his major issue which i feel is stopping him from making any progress is his serious hyperactivity and absolutely no attention or focus. He cannot sit still for more than 90-120 seconds at one place. Even while sitting for his food, he will have no eye contact and will be lost in his own world. After some testing, we came to know that he has issues like heavy metals, food allergies, etc. Though we have not done any testing for phenol sensitivity but we feel that he is also sensitive to Phenol. So our DAN prescribed him with Phenol Assist. We started giving him Phenol Assist (1/2 capsule everyday) from Kirkman Labs. Now after one week, we see that his screaming, running, jumping has increased significantly. Yesterday we took him to the park and he was running and screaming all over the place. He keeps jumping on the Trampoline to > a point till he is completely exhausted. > > So anyone has seen any negative effects with Phenol Assist? Is this temporary and should we continue or stop? Should we try with No Phenol instead of Phenol Assist? > > Also are there any tests for Phenol Sensitivity and where it can be done? Other than no phenol/phenol assist and avoidance of phenol rich food, magnesium sulfate cream has been the most amazing for my son. I just started it last week and I am applying 3 times a day. I got the kirkman brand. On friday, I was not home and my husband forgot to put it on and my son had a bad day. Molybdenum has been known to help and I am about to start my son on that this week as I am trying to add one thing at a time. I am making notes on all the material that is available on the net regarding phenol sensitivity and as soon as I have my notes ready, I will post. I know that a lot of parents may already know this info, but it may help some other parents like me who are just beginning to learn about the phenol issues. I strongly recommend magnesium sulfate cream. As you may already know, phenol > sensitivity is a result of deficiency of phenolsulfotransferase activity and also from lack of sulfate available for the proper enzyme activity. So we are trying to avoid a phenol load on the body by reducing the intake of phenols and using no phenol to help digest the phenolic compounds and at the same time we are trying to supply body with the sulfate. These children have difficulty with sulfur oxidation also and providing sulfur in the diet doesn't help but when they get the ready sulfate, it is available for the PST enzyme to be used right away and then the PST functions better at getting rid of the phenolic products and toxins which cause all the crazy symptoms. Vitamin B6 in the P5P form should be avoided as it further affects PST but if it needs to be given, magnesium dose should be increased. There are some other supps ideas that I am working on and I will let everyone know once I have everything collected. > > is >
