Guest guest
Last week I got the new issue of Scientific American Mind, and it includes a short article about the new DSM. The article doesn't mention BPD specifically, but it says that they are including guidelines for rating symptoms to help make diagnoses more precise. And they're scrapping some disorders (Aperger's, which surprises me, also histrionic, paranoid, schizoid, and dependendent PDs) and adding more (binge eating disorder, hypersexual disorder, absexual disorder, and addiction to gambling). It seems like they've also thrown out the clusters in lieu of going with a chronological approach, starting with disorders that generally present in childhood and moving up through later adulthood. The article doesn't go into a lot of detail, but it will be interesting to see the new DSM. It's supposed to be out in May.
