Driving safely or NOT driving..... (Was) Re: Margaret setting up new nero

As much as I want to have the independence of driving again I know in my heart it is not safe for me. I am like and "forget" what I'm doing. My memory/cognitive stuff makes me an unsafe driver. I nearly killed myself in 2002 when I rolled my van (over and over 8 to 10 times, according to accident investigators and a witness). I broke my neck, was actually scalped, broke all posterior right ribs, collapsed lung, cuts/gashes... I floated between life and death for 5 days in ICU. Life is short and when an unsafe driver is behind the wheel it gets a heck of a lot shorter:) I don't know why Margaret's doc thought she was not able to drive but I know why I shouldn't drive! I am so thankful to have lived through the car

Many states have mandatory reporting laws - my former DiL's Dr had to report her when he put her on seizure meds. It's a public safety thing - YOUR privacy rights/driving priviledges against everyone else's safety - what are the chances of s seizure/diabetic event/etc while driving? I am in the process of getting set up with a new nero. I have Medicaid so I am getting set up with a pcp. I have that appointment on Feb.22, 2011. I know him already because he takes care of my son. I will be taking a list of symptoms with me when I see him. My last nero sent a letter to DMV to take my linces from me. I will be fighting it because of where I live. Margaret A.
