Hi All, My wife and I need some advice. Our 4 year old twin boy is beginning kindergarten next September. We have stopped all vaccinations for a year now. He is being treated by a Biomedical doctor in New York for almost a year now. He is coming along nicely but nowhere near recovered yet. Now we are faced with the school system here in Port Chester (Westchester County), NY. They are asking for MMR vaccination and TB screen (I am not what this is). They are asking for the vaccination or a letter from a lawyer stating as to the reason why he can not get the vaccination. I am wondering if there is

anything at all like a Parental rights on Vaccinations for their Autistic Children. The last thing we want to do is give him this vaccination and TB screen and

have himregress or worse. We would appreciate any help/input on this. With sincere gratitude, andra and Rolando

I am not sure but I think the TB screen is safe....it is not a vaccine just a skin prick... For the MMR your son probably already had one MMR shot and that would 95% make sure he is already immune. They like to give a second MMR around age 5 just to make sure all the kids are immune when in fact 95% are immune after one shot........just a great way to screw up a lot more kids and make billions more revenue! Totally disgusting. You can go to your pediatrician and ask him to check your sons titers for the MMR viruses. Any regular lab can run it and it should be covered by insurance. Most likely your son will be immune. It will require your son to have to have a blood draw. If your son is immune you can show that lab report to the school nurse and that is as good as having a booster

shot. To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > Sent: Tuesday, May 22, 2012 9:44 PM Subject: Need Advice! Son is starting Kindergarten and vaccinations.

, We appreciate your help. He has numerous labs and I believe his Biomedical doctor has mentioned about his titers and MMR. We will ask him about getting a copy and do this first. Hopefully the system complies. Thanks, and Rolando To:

Hi and Rolando,I am sorry that you are feeling the stress of pressure from them. For a medical exemption, you could simply say that you are not vaccinating further because it is contraindicated by his health condition. Vaccines are contraindicated especially in those with food allergies, and so that might be an easy way to say it. Just get your doctor to sign, but maybe that is not even necessary. Honestly, I prefer not to give anyone any more info than is required while still staying in compliance with the law. You are in charge. You have a right to protect your child, and he has a right to go to school. Warm blessings,Jean

andra and Rolando,

Schools also want to CYA which is probably why they want the signed letter. You could give them an exemption letter signed by an attorney and also get a titer done. My son only had one MMR and never got the followup for kindergarten. I filed a exemption and had it notorized at town hall and gave it to the school nurse. That was four years ago. She has never questioned me about it. They just wanted it for the file.

When my son was older, I had his MMR titer done and the doctor said he still has very strong immunity. I never shared the titer results with the school but kept it as a backup in case I was challenged later. As others have said be very careful sharing of your childs any medical information with the school as it could backfire.

As for the second MMR shot, I wouldn't dare give my son another MMR. He regressed badly after the first one.

Hi , We are going to get the copy of his titer. I have received some links to places for letters and information. Do you remember the exact exemption letter you used? Where could we get it? What kind of attorney did you used? Was there anyone in particular at town hall you got it notarized from? Excuse all of the questions but we are trying to get over this hurdle. We have enough hurdles already. We appreciate your help.Regards, and Rolando To: mb12valtrex Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 11:01 AM Subject: Re: Need Advice! Hi Rolando,

I live in Mass so we have our own state exemption form. I did not use an attorney. I had the town clerk at my town hall notarize it and, at my town hall anyway, there was no charge. I submitted the notarized form to the school. You could ask the school if they'll accept a notarized form instead of a signed by an attorney.

Model Exemption form by State:

Hi AllWe had the same question about a week back when we had to go for our 5 yr old son school registration and the school district clearly mentioned that we need to give the 2nd MMR for the registration. We spoke to our pediatrician and she said that vaccines and Autism is not related. So though not fully convinced, we said that look at all the childhood videos we have for our child. He got his 1st MMR at 12 months and after that we did not see any regression. He was still a VERY TYPICAL fun loving, playful, responding appropriately and at times even saying words like Bye Bye, mama, etc. Later around 18 months, he received his DPT and Polio vaccine. After that when we saw his recording, he was lip tied..He started being alone, not saying or expressing anything and

started getting very cranky. Today he is 5 yrs old and still the same child and doesn't speak at all. Only babbles. Lot of ADHD and sensory issues. We gave him the 2nd MMR with a heavy heart but one thing i clearly asked the pediatrician that i want to space out the vaccines and give only the required ones.RegardsAalok To: mb12valtrex Sent: Thursday, May 24,

@ Aalok,Do you know that NY has vaccine exemption on religious basis? If not, whatever your religion is, just use it.Noel

Hi Everyone

This is a timely posting - we are switching from a private Catholic School to

Public in the fall. My son is going to first grade. The Catholic school is so

small - about 100 kids that they have basically worked with us regarding

vaccines. My son has full vaccines until 10 months when he was diagnosed with

multiple food allergies - and asthma a year or so thereafter. I regret

vaccinating on time - but I was a first time mom and bought the marketing of

fear for my baby. Thinking I was doing the right thing I vaccinated. But I

have read studies that even delaying DPT by 1 month reduces incidence of asthma.

Anyways, I am opposed to any further vaccinations. The ped we see always lets

me know that she does not support this view - but she continues to work with

use. The public school will require shots.

I was thinking of claiming religious exemption - but then how does that work

when my son needs to carry inhaler and epipens and have educated adults around

him who know how to administer.

It just seems a little disconnected - like I am opposed to this medical

intervention - but not that one. Just playing devil's advocate so that I have a

come back for the school if and when I encounter resistance.

If they push on it and refuse to budge - I guess I'll have to continue paying

the Catholic School - it's just their curriculum is not so great. Anyways, just

vocalizing. Does anyone else have experience with this?

We live in Ill. I already have our religious right of refusal in the works.

Please take a look at this

http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requirements.aspx We're in Iowa

- only need to fill out the paperwork w no vaccines listed, get it notarized and

hand it in with the rest of the paperwork. Unless you're dealing w a rabid

school nurse, you do not need to vaccinate/justify. Claiming religious means

just that - you do not have to justify to anyone or explain. Iowa has a form -

if your state does, use it; do not enhance it w explanations. Like many, I would

never vaccinate anyone I loved again or consent to one myself.

I did not vaccinate my son and did not have to claim religious exemption because my state allows personal exemption -- where you do not vaccinate for personal reasons. Anyway, the only thing the school has ever said is that if they have a documented case of something that my son has not been vaccinated for, he will have to stay home from school for an undisclosed period of time. He has been in school for two years and this has not happened, so I don't think it is something that happens very often.
