Guest guest
OK, then I understand! Good that it all came through! No, 52 is not old enough to die. Absolutely not. I found out he was ill not long after I had met him that time. I kind of hoped/thought/assumed that he would make it somehow, but unfortunately not. He left behind two relatively young daughters (his own record label was named after them both, it was their names intertwined). For the youngest one he wrote a very touching song with the refrain "you are nineteen years old", the song starts out with a reflection on how it seems she was a baby who'd let him comfort her, "only just a moment ago", and yet somehow, she is now, already, nineteen years old. It goes on to ask what legacy he will leave her with, concluding "perhaps only just this: that I have loved you, more than I ever loved myself". And the song ends with the lines "Wherever you go, be true to yourself, that will have to be my very last advice to you, despite the fact that you are only nineteen years old"Very touching (even if my translation may have "butchered" it), especially knowing that he finished working on that song and the album it's on in his hospital room, when he knew he was dying. Of course, a nineteen year old, is not a child per se, but as a parent, I would think you'd want to be around for your children a little longer than that. Being there for there college graduation, seeing them settle down and start a family of their own, things like that. Can't begin to imagine the tragedy in having to give up on that.love/Reb> >> > My dear Reb,> > How very, very thoughtful of you!
