Guest guest
Do you own " Nourishing Traditions " by Sally Fallon, President of the Weston A. Price Foundation? It's a great book with lots and lots of recipes. I think there is an eggnog recipe in there somewhere, although I am not sure because I have misplaced my copy. If you don't have it then tell me so that I can tell you some more reasons to buy it... I looked it up and didn't find anything. I will look again and make sure I didn't miss it. The sugar and yolks to be well beaten together, and the whites (well beaten) added by degrees. To twelve eggs, put eight glassfuls of brandy and four of wine. Put the liquor in the yolks and sugar, stirring all the time: then add the whites, and lastly the milk. Here is from the Joy of Cooking: 2 cups chilled milk 2 eggs 2T sugar or honey 1/2 t vanilla or grated orange or lemon rind cracked ice Shake together, top with nutmeg. If you mean the kind they sell at the stores though, that type is usually made from a custard -- mix some egg yolks and cream (or milk) and sugar and boil til it gets thick: then add milk to desired thinness. The spices are generally nutmeg and some cinnamon, I think. If you want one that tastes JUST like at the stores (but is likely not as good for you), then buy some " eggnog flavor " concentrate and add a few drops and some sweetener to a glass of milk or cream.
