Hi,

My 6 yold son started Valtrex last Tuesday. Today is his 7th day. He got a

genital rash (testicles and around that area) on Thursday night. The following

day it almost disappear.

Since then, he has been having a regression. He speech is slurred, he is very

distracted, and has trouble listening and paying attention and he looks as twice

as autistic. Sometimes looking like " drunk " too.

We do not see any positive. We are doing also Amphotericin B.

Questions,

Is the regression supposed to be only behavioral? or also cognitive? (not

concentrating, etc)

Should I continue to 60 days even though we don't see any positives?

awe, regression is painful

Hello,

Valtrex can make yeast flare pretty badly. What you describe (looking drunk,

slurred speech...) sounds like yeast. Was he prescribed an anti-fungal with his

Valtrex? If not, I would add that asap. Candidase worked best for us (my son

couldn't tolerate the rx anti-fungals).

If Valtrex doesn't work for you, you can consider trying Virastop (with

Candidase for yeast at the same time). Here is a discussion on it.
