I initially did 5 months of TD-DMPS because i was scared of oral chelation, now my only issue is i wished i started it earlier, sigh.... My son will be 7 next March i have completed 69 rounds, started with 6 rounds of DMSA alone, then added in ALA, i started with 5mg or each and once i had done approx 20 rounds i upped the dose to 6.25mg DMSA(one 25mg capsule split 4 ways) & 9.375 ALA (one and a half capsules split 4 ways) I am happy with him on this dose i may increase if his weight changes drastically but for the time being i will keep as it is. We have done it maybe 10 times with initially good results but it quickly goes away without regular doses. I also increased dose because I thought I should. I give DMSA & ALA and dose every 3 hours in day and stretch to 4 hours at night time. He's in normal preschool right now, starting to write his name, playing with his peers. At one point he couldn't cross from sidewalk to grass, stimmed all day long. We did 3 rounds of the protocol and following the 3rd round, my daughter was witnessed at school having an ABSENCE SEIZURE. This type of episode has never happened before, at least not that any of us were aware of.......From what I understand the DMSA would not CAUSE the seizure, but may bring them more to the surface during chelation. In other words, she may have been having them all along, but we just didn't notice. I stopped the chelation and there have been no further episodes that we are aware of.... We had an EEG done but of course the results were limited due to movement....Imagine that....Our neurologist suggested a 3 month trial of anti-seizure medication........I am very hesitant about medicating her, especially if there is a possibility that the SEIZURE WAS CAUSED BY THE DMSA. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. . And Dan dbklein34@... Re: Cutlers protocol We have been doing this protocol for 6 months and by far the 'BEST results producing' protocol we have ever done. (Have done both IV and suppositories NEVER got great results.) The ALA is for mercury which my daughter has as it crosses blood brain barrier. We started with ALA and added in DMSA for heavy metals which have brought only more incredible cognitive gains. Worth the effort as it has changed her life and is attending a school with no aide. We still provide speech/OT supports. We go up slow and steady in dosages to minimize any side effects. Imbalances of calcium and magnesium will cause seizures.I would not try the seizure meds before trying B6 + magnesium. Hi.
