Our drs are excellent. We couldn't ask for more. There are some perks to living in a small community. We only have 1100 people in our town and the town the dr is in has only 4100. We have a small hospital where you are a person and not a number. I love it!

I am not 65 yet. Will be in Oct. So we asked the dr if until then we could just share the strips and meter. We have plenty of everything. Then when I turn 65 he will get me set up with everything for myself. I know the meter was free for Chuck. Its the strips that are very expensive. Doc said he had no problem with us doing it this way. He knows I have no insurance and we are struggling. He also had the lab do an A1C.

Back from the dr

We are home. I am diabetic. They consider readings of 200 or above for 2 days as diabetic. He spent a lot of time with us but he usually does. He sits down on his stool and talks to you. He put me on 500mg of Metformin in the morning, for now, and then we will go from there to see if I will need insulin. He said its good that I caught it early. He looked back and my last blood work was fine. So thats a good thing. He said to watch what I eat and its better to "graze" all day than 3 meals a day. Of course graze on the good stuff! He offered to send me to the class for diabetics and I said no. One reason being we went through it with Chuck and I have all the booklets etc. Plus not having insurance we don't need another bill. He went over everything even though he said we went over it when Chuck was diagnosed. He said sometimes you forget things. Also my b/p was a little high so he wants me to watch that. He said sometimes you have to put diabetics on

Lisinopril (sp), Chuck is on it. He said the thirst, excessive sweating, frequent urination, dry mouth etc. are all signs of diabetes. So just another bump in the road of life. It could be worse thats for sure.
