Guest guest
Must be the season for Great Pumpkin Poops! We've gotten some really fantastic poops since starting higher doses of biotin. I think we should re-name Fall to " The season of The Great Pumpkin Poops. " ;-D Tell Channa we say " HEY! " WAH-HOOOOO!I talked to Channa. They got their Great Pumpkin Poop!!!! It happened during week 3 of Humaworm. No worms to report, but a big, beautiful normal poop! Way to go, Channa!!!!! I love starting out the week with good news!-Tammy
Guest guest
Oh, yeah, and I forgot to mention that on Saturday, we went out to a breakfast diner and Maia had a grilled cheese (made with Wonder Bread), a few fries (fried in vegetable -- soy -- oil) with ketchup, and a glass of chocolate milk. Yes, I was taking the biotin for a test run. She had a slightly mushy poop right after (still a good poop compared to a year ago) and the poops went back to well-formed the next morning. Biotin rocks! Must be the season for Great Pumpkin Poops! We've gotten some really fantastic poops since starting higher doses of biotin. Guest guest
Hi Alberta, You've probably said already, but why did you decide to increase biotin? Our nutritionist had my son on biotin for yeast a long time ago, but we didn't notice anything with it; maybe we weren't on a high enough dose. Are you using it for yeast as well, or something else? Thanks,Soraya Oh, yeah, and I forgot to mention that on Saturday, we went out to a breakfast diner and Maia had a grilled cheese (made with Wonder Bread), a few fries (fried in vegetable -- soy -- oil) with ketchup, and a glass of chocolate milk. Guest guest
We had chronic loose stools. Our OAT showed that Maia had methylcitric acid and, although it was within reference range, when I talked to , she said that in one of her talks with another researcher, he noted that people aren't supposed to have ANY methylcitric acid in them. Although the OAT is a useful tool for us, the reference ranges are sometimes " off " because GPL takes them from siblings of other sick children and whatever is wrong with one child in a family, the chances are that sibilings may have lesser degrees of similar conditions. So, when they made the reference ranges, it makes it look like it's " normal " for people to have some degree of methylcitric acid in their urine, when normal, healthy people don't have it because they don't have biotin deficiency. It made sense to me because we had been doing probiotics for a while without any lasting results. Without biotin, the gut does not provide a hospitable environment for friendly flora and when friendly flora can't thrive, there's " room " for bad things like clostridia and yeast to take over. We had no lactobacillus growth. Also, we had problems with leucine metabolism and having it crash her serotonin when she'd have anything with even traces of leucine in it. This was related to our low B6, which disrupted niacin production. But the other reason, I recently found out, is that biotin is required to metabolize leucine. Maia also had pretty severe global apraxia. Biotin and the rest of the B's make it possible to provide the precursors to metabolizing our other amino acids plus leucine...and you should see how chatty she is trying to become. Biotin makes it possible for good flora to survive in her gut to control bad bacteria, yeast and allows metabolism of some amino acids...and the ability to metabolize certain amino acids make it possible for the body to make dopamine and serotonin, allowing for much better emotional regulation and neurotransmitter production for better motor skills (for imitation and control of oral motor muscles required for speech). We're doing anywhere between 8 and 12 mg of biotin (Maia is 4 years old, weighing about 36 lbs) -- I'm finding that 12 mg hardens her stools a tad too much and 8 to 10 mg seems to work best. We might need to increase our magnesium. HOORAY for Channa and the Great Pumpkin!!!!!!! I knew the combination of Halloween and Humaworm would do it!!!
