Just one person's opinion...

Having seen my son regress terribly after the MMR, if I could back and undo getting that shot, I would absolutely do so.  Granted, your son is older than mine, who was 23 months old when he received it, but the measles vaccine is a live virus and can do a lot of damage, especially in a person on the spectrum.  Especially if your son has any GI issues at all - measles is known to be causally related to the development of Crohn's disease in some individuals, and we absolutely saw hugely negative changes in my son's digestive function after the MMR.  All of this is outside the consideration of any thimerosal presence, which itself is definitely a problem, even if it is reduced.

Of course, then there's the chance of contracting the actual virus, which wouldn't be good, but at least there is a chance of avoiding it.  If you administer the vaccine, you are guaranteeing introduction of the virus to your child, and most ASD kiddos' immune systems are unable to suppress the virus as a typical person can, so the fact that it is a " weakened " virus is not as beneficial as it sounds on the surface.  If your son forewent the vaccine and somehow contracted the measles, you can treat it with high doses of Vitamin A under a doctor's supervision.

Just my thoughts.  I feel so strongly on the topic of vaccines and particularly the MMR after experiencing the damage it did to my son.  Even worse is the fact that we only gave the MMR to him at the urging of the doctors, and then after the fact they completely disacknowledged the negative physical impact to him and we were left to deal with the consequences on our own.

Best,

P.S. I'm new to the group - will try to send out a brief intro of myself soon.  :)   Just joined last week, but have been super busy at work and when I saw your post I couldn't help but to respond even though I am " stranger. "

Hi guys, As you all know, there have been some recent measles cases across the country, and several in my hometown in MD. A few people have died. My 7 year-old asd son has never received the mmr, and I'm really worried about him contracting this disease. Our regular pediatrician just showed me some documentation stating that none of the single-serve vials of the mmr vaccine that she uses contain thimerosol. Should I take that at its word and just give my son this vaccine? Are there other things to be worried about with this vaccine besides thimerosol?

Thanks,Soraya

Thanks, Toni!  ;)  I recognize you from the low oxalate group, too.  I love these groups and try to contribute when I can!

An involved doctor who used to post on the EOH site says that, yes, it did used

to have Hg and I believe him. Why else would it be reported in the news that

the jab " doesn't have it and never has. "

Thermosol isn't the only thing to worry about, aside from possibility of the vaccine creating chronic gut/brain issues. The shot contains aluminum and other preservatives that could be problematic in some individuals. Does your son have ashma or any other underlying chronic issues?
