I don't know how many of us live on the east coast but I sincerely hope if

anyone does that they are prepared for Earl if he should hit.

Some people on other message boards are poo-poohing Earl's danger and claim the

media is overreacting, but as one who went thru Katrina, I don't think any

amount of alarm talk by the media should be ignored

Yes, the path could change and go further east. It could also change and drift

further west. Katrina was originally forcast to hit the Florida panhandle then

wander off east and weaken. She didn't.

So please, keep an eye on the weather and don't take any chances. My friends

heeded the warnings, evacuated and survived. Some of their neighbors did not.

Dee I will keep everyone in my prayers that Earl is not as powerful as they are saying and that everyone is safe on the east coast.

I worked at Red Cross in 2003 - they sent all the ships out to sea

pay attention -when you are told to get out - get out

keep an overnight bag with essentions and important papers for each person in your family - if you can take a CD of the important stuff - bottled water and staples for when the power is out - camping gear if you have it with kerosene lamps and kerosene for lamps or the 7 day candles - Dollar Tree has them at $1.00 each - if worse comes to worse a barbecue grill will do biscuits and hot dogs and hamburgers - it will take awhile but even water will heat - a sleeping bag with sheets is good too

the ice storm in January made a believer out of me - I didn't have a to go bag - I got two days of clothes and what I was standing in and my meds - all herbal = Mark brought me back in to get more later

if I have cleaned out the freezer we could have eaten it and not lost what I had

I have to put the sweats back in a week or two - this time with everything in space bags - you can pack more - underwear is already in plastic when you buy it - dollar tree and dollar store are the best places

my sister Ina told me this morning the evacuations and the hurricane are all over the news - she is in the NW part of the state in the piedmont of NC

I myself have only been in one hurricane in my life, but that was quite enough (and one of those reminders of the tremendous powers mother nature has, despite our deluded belief that we are somehow the masters of her...). Hope everyone stays safe!love/Reb---original message---

most of my life I have lived in OK or the almost 14 years in MO

I have a lot of respect for Mother and what can happen

I worked the Pecan Valley tornado west of town in the late 90's - Red Cross was in there hours after it happened - I felt the same way I felt in St Louis when I took the kids to a doctor appointment - they had opened the innerstate at Valley Park - I had to pull over - below the bridge the water was still lapping a bit - it was water into Valley Park for the 2 - 3 miles and at least 15 feet deep -

yeah it makes you think
