Guest guest
Amen to that one Blueeberri.. Totally agree, it's anatomy and the most natural thing in the world. Dee ~ ----- Original Message ----- From: blueeberri@... Menopause and perimenopause can create sexual problems. They are totally related. Why is it evil to talk about sex and vaginas? I do not find it offensive at all.Because some people do, we are stuck with no help. Blueeberri
Guest guest
Because some men become sexually aroused so easily. They don't want the men in the cast and audience to be subjected to hard-ons while the show is going on. Ora >Menopause and perimenopause can create sexual problems. Guest guest
My PT has told me many stories – hard to believe in this day and age – that there are still women who have never looked – in their own words – “down there” – and these are college educated women. They know they pee and have their period from “down there”, but have never looked at their parts. Even for sex and childbirth they don’t look. I am a grandmother, and I always looked – but I was the curious type anyway. How can you go through life without looking – it beats me. I guess the first thing my PT does is get a huge magnifying mirror and a huge chart with all the names of everything and what they are there for. Do they have any type of women’s sex ed, or health topics now in school? I know once they did. Maybe now all they cover is contraception. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Lindsey Sent: Monday, March 31, 2008 8:52 PM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: Media and other talk shows PS <A documentary about a disorder that can create problems sexually (just using this part as an example because of how many have pain with sex) would not be an appropriate documentary for PBS. I completely disagree. PBS tackles all sorts of " difficult " topics including sexuality, violence, and racism. Vaginas aren't dirty and every person walking around on this planet came through one (or should've come through one). You never know where something might be picked up. I agree TLC, Discovery, etc., would be good. Although personally I NEVER watch those shows because they glorify doctors and medical interventions. I wish instead of some of those dramatic shows about birth where mom/baby almost expires they would show some nice, normal, healthy births done by a midwife at a birth center. Just my .02. Guest guest
and Dee, I agree with both of you about the problems that these can cause but when it comes to the issue of something to do with sex even though it's just anatomy and something natural (again I agree) that's not how the general public sees it at this time. I wish they would see it the way we do but right now they just don't. I think we should go after one particular show on Discovery Health where it may get more word out there. The program is called Mystery Diagnosis. The episode they showed last night included a story about endometriosis and I'm proud of them for not being afraid to admit the pain it can cause with intercourse. Guest guest
LOL..... haha I never thought of that one Ora... ; ) Although I can't imagine it since it's all about such pain there. But you never know what might turn on a guy. Dee ~ ----- Original Message ----- From: taurusrc@... Because some men become sexually aroused so easily. Guest guest
LOL Then it must be 'me' Kristy. *chuckle* Seriously I talk the same way in public as I do here and I never give it a 2nd thought. I just use the correct words and if they're squirming I don't really notice it. (My mom used to squirm if I'd mention a french kiss *chuckle* today she's fine and we can talk about anything) I think the public is much aware than you realize, but then I've always been open sexually and could talk about anything, and I never did think it was anything taboo so to speak and that's how my friends are as well. So I dunno. In fact that's how so many women will speak to me 'off the record' by me being so open and tell me their problems. As far as which show? I think it's a lot of 'tadoo' about nothing, who cares?...Get on ANY show or magazine, etc., etc., and go for it. Throw enough on the wall and some of it just might stick. Hey maybe Playboy eh? LOL We beggars can't be choosers, like we can decide what show it should be on? *chuckle* Just my opinion of course. Dee ~
Guest guest
Dee, I wish the public were more aware of stuff like this than I think but I have found that to not be the case when I have talked about this to some of the people I know. But like you I am pretty open about my problems and not afraid to tell anyone. I've even had to mention it a few times in the actual stores when trying to find a cotton slip of which I still can't find. I would have told a friend of mine about the vulvodynia when she went to get some stuff for me because she thought about me in the way of clothes but I couldn't because of her 10 year old daughter standing there. Guest guest
nne, I am college educated, young (26) and had never looked at myself " down there " until the day I got my LP diagnosis in 2007. Melinda
