Guest guest
I also agree – this is not a subject as a documentary for PBS. Every television season there is more and more so called “for bidden” words being used, and what was not used even this year will be used next year. The ladies on “The View” have commented on this several times because their “hosts” are known for using what we use to call “four letter” words on a regular basis (because three of them are comedians and use them on their stand-up shows). Sometimes they are bleeped out, but more and more of them are left in. The taboo subjects are just not so taboo any more. The words penis and vagina are used on “The View” all the time, so why wouldn’t they have someone on who wrote a book, or even a magazine article on the subject. The hard part is getting them on the show. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Kristy Sokoloski Sent: Monday, March 31, 2008 3:24 AM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: Media and other talk shows PS A documentary about a disorder that can create problems sexually (just using this part as an example because of how many have pain with sex) would not be an appropriate documentary for PBS. Discovery Health maybe although in 2009 the channel that Oprah is starting is going to be replacing Discovery Health. The reason for Discovery Health is because it won't come under as much scrutiny from the FCC as that is a cable channel unlike PBS or one of the other major networks. TLC did a show on sexual disorders about 10 years ago and they talked about vulvodynia but they did it in such a way where all vulvodynia was the same: as being vestibulodynia (formerly known as vulvar vestibulitis syndrome) and that's just wrong. They also talked about the surgery for vestibulodynia. The show was hosted by Pierce Brosnan. Kristy __________________________________________________________ Like movies?
