Guest guest
Hi Kirsty, I don't really know anything about diverticulum, but here is a link that may help: http://www.emedicine.com/MED/topic2878.htm Have you looked into seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist for an evaluation? A good one might could help you determine what's going on structurally. Hugs, Chelle
Guest guest
Hi Kristy, I am a nurse and have never heard of urethral diverticulum (UD). I guess it is a fairly new discovery of why women have pelvic pain. This website describes symptoms, causes, ways to diagnose and treat. It says that often women are diagnosed with some other type of pelvic pain when UD is the true cause. I hope you check this link out and I think the ultrasound is a good idea just to rule out UD. Sounds like this would be a good thing for several women on this site to investigate, to make sure they have the correct diagnosis of their pelvic pain. Thanks for sharing!! http://www.muschealth.com/bladderhealth/health_info/urethral_diverticulum.htm > > Hi everyone, > My OBGYN is making me have an ultrasound on my urethra because she > thinks it is worth ruling out 'diverticulum'. Guest guest
Hi Chelle, I thought your link was very interesting. I'm starting school this fall for Nurse Practioner and I plan to focus on women's health - particularly vulvar/pelvic disorders. So, my education begins early!! There is a newer program in Milwaukee called the WISH program at Froedtert Hospital, Women's Incontinence and Sexual Health. It is not covered under my insurance, of course, but they have a urologist, gynecologist, PT, psychologist, etc, all under one roof that focus on these things. There is one doc in particular that focuses on sexual health, including hormonal imbalances and low libido along with vulvodynia. I have an appt with a new Gyn next week to discuss my continued numbness (vestibulitis seems to be gone) but if she blows me off like so many other GYN's do, I'll probably just pay the out-of-pocket cost and check out the WISH program. I also plan on seeing a PT that my sex therapist recommended. She specializes in pelvic pain and is supposed to be very holistic. She is in Waukesha, WI. I was reading through the posts and it's fascinating to me that so many women have had the same experience with GYN's that I have - they don't listen and seem to pretend our problem isn't real. I hope I can help women like this, be their " soft place to fall " when I become an NP. Thanks for all your input! > > Hi Kirsty, I don't really know anything about diverticulum, but here is a link that may help: http://www.emedicine.com/MED/topic2878.htm > > Have you looked into seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist for an evaluation? Guest guest
WOW ... thanks SO much for that very interesting article on Urethra diverticulum.. (and Kristy for mentioning having a test for it)...I'd never heard of it before and it makes sense somewhat and I can see how it's similiar to diverticultis of the colon (with those pouches) . So many things we can having going on with us, eh? Thanks again.Dee~ http://www.muschealth.com/bladderhealth/health_info/urethral_diverticulum.htm
