Dee Troll >>>>>One quick question? What does all that 'rolling of the skin' do? I saw that on the tummy and looks easy enough but how or what is that supposed to help? If someone wanted me to do that on my vulva? I wouldn't let them near me with the pain I was in. *grin*... but curious. Hey Dee, When you have tight pelvic floor muscles and dysfunction, you almost always have connective tissue constrictions. Skin rolling helps break up all that 'gunked' up connective tissue that keeps the myofascial pain going. The nerves get all gunked up in that tissue, and the blood flow is reduced too. It is amazing how all this stuff has a domino effect. Last October, and I drove

to Chicago and I saw Rhonda Kotarinos for 3 days. 2-hour sessions each day. After a combined total of 20 yrs. of various kinds of pelvic pain...Vulvar, IC, Endo and Pudendal Neuralgia, I had many constrictions of my connective tissue. It does indeed hurt...but it is worth it. Rhonda did work on the vulvar area, and though it was painful...I was amazed at how the vulvar and vestibule area felt afterwards. The skin was so "pliable" and felt different. Better. filmed the sessions so he could learn to work on me at home. When you have pelvic pain, it's almost a given that you will TENSE your muscles (against the pain). When you do, they can develop trigger points that refer even MORE pain. I am hypermobile in many areas of my body, but especially my pelvis....Hmmm. I knew I was always flexible. Was a cheerleader for several years

and did seven years worth of gymnastics when I was young. Now I realize, though, how hypermobility is really bad for the pelvic floor muscles. It can easily cause structural asymmetries...and then due to the laxity of the ligaments, the muscles end up doing the job of the ligaments by 'tightening' up. Not good...then the tight muscles 'refer' pain -- like to the vulva or to the bladder (as in IC), even to the SI Joints, etc. I've learned how to do skin rolling on (as well as myself). He has back pain and when I work on his tight muscles he always feels much better. One of my biggest painful areas right now is my butt - I cannot sit without really bad pain. I flew to NH last Nov. and saw nne's Dr's (who are both absolutely FANTASTIC) - but I cannot afford to keep flying up there. I am now trying to 'beat' the Pudendal Nerve surgery. Part of treatment is Physical Therapy --

trying to break up the painful connective tissue that is compressing the Pudendal Nerve.... but there are times when the surgery is the only route left - especially when PT, Nerve blocks and meds do not help. I do not have anyone in my state that is 'updated' in the latest and best techniques for pelvic floor PT, that's why we went to Chicago. I rode in the back of an SUV and laid down for the entire trip. I stood on the plane each time we flew to NH. I'm leaving tomorrow for NC to see a couple of specialists down there in Charlotte. I have a bone spur on my sacrum (on the right side) and that is also the side where I hurt with the sit pain. I am hoping the Ortho surgeon can help me. Not one Dr. here at home would even see me for an evaluation. No joke! I'm trying to rule out every possible cause of the sit pain. I am also going to see Libby . After 3 yrs. of

using Estrace it has really helped the vulvar skin, but I have one area that still causes pain on contact. Overall, though, I'm 80 - 90% better from the vulvar pain. Not all PT's know how to do skin rolling...and when they don't --it doesn't seem to help as well. Sandi Sharp went to an updated PT, for I think - a year or so...and she is so much better from the skin rolling! And considering how much money she has spent over the years and the pain she has suffered...it's a really good testimony for skin rolling! One last thing, the pain from the skin rolling gets better the more you do it. It's really cool! Hugs, Chelle
