Guest guest
I have been on this site before and asked questions. You all have always helped me out then. Now I have another. My little girl has been having more seizures this year and the doctors have tried all the meds they can with her. Now we are getting her ready for brain surgery soon. Her behavior has become so bad that we dont know what to do. I have bruises on my arms and legs from her and she is only 9yrs old. She takes risperdal and zoloft and for a while when she started the zoloft she calmed down and was VERY pleasant but now she is wild again. Any suggestions for a very tired and sore mom? Please help. Thank you and God bless!!!
Guest guest
(Wow, I feel so inadequate to even respond) I don't KNOW a thing about your daughter's challenges, and I really feel for your predicament....but I have a deep distrust of all the conventional psych drugs and especially serious surgery. Have you tried the various diet changes, parasite cleanses, vitamins and other biomed approaches talked about on this board? Other parents (with I think much less severe conditions) have had success with seizures and violent behavior using biomed interventions. Whatever you can determine is best for your child, I wish you both the very best for success. MY DAUGHTER >I have been on this site before and asked questions. Guest guest
I dont have much experience with seizures....but their is so many possible causes of seizures you need to go down the list. mercury in brain is a major cause of seizures but not the only cause....food infractions and allergies can be another cause..i couldnt list all the possible reasons but I always tell people what i do when faced with a disturbing health issue is i start from the begginning...for me that means couple days on easy to digest veggie soup...no supps...then slowly add one food at a time into the diet and watch for reactions... I would keep my kid on the most basic diet while i am trying to figure out the problem. what does your kids poop look like or smell like...that can give a possible clue as to if it is digestive issue..is there thyriod problems? does your child act worse or better in certain places...could it be enviromental? chemicals in the air? my son on his first dose of dmsa became a diffrent kid...yes it is a bit drastic reaction but it told me my biggest issues are metals...or one of my biggest issues... could it be parasites in the brain??? it is a process of deduction and you go from the most basic to the more complicated solutions.. i have heard of taurine and gaba helping for seizures but i wouldnt mix that and the script together. channa To: mb12valtrex Sent: Thursday, November 10, 2011 10:47 AMSubject: MY DAUGHTER I have been on this site before and asked questions. Guest guest
Have you ruled out Chlostridia, Pandas, parasites, molds and high ammonia? Have you tried eliminating foods she could be allergic/sensitive to as well as environmental sensitivities? You might be interested in researching magnesium and B6 for seizures. I am so sorry for your little girl. I'm sure she's every bit as frustrated as you. I would be interested in having her levels of vitamins, minerals and amino acids tested. Have your journaled her seizures and possible triggers? Maybe these are a few avenues you could explore.... -Tammy To: mb12valtrex Sent: Thursday, November 10, 2011 10:47 AMSubject: MY DAUGHTER I have been on this site before and asked questions. Guest guest
Please try B6 and magnesium. There is even a study showing B6 *with* Keppra removes/reduces problem behaviors likeaggression and ADHD.You didn't say your child is on Keppra but I am just saying if B6 alone can prevent seizures and B6 WITH seizure meds can prevent bad behaviors, there MAY be somethingyou can do before brain surgery. My son is on B6 + P5P + B2 + 5-HTP + GABA + INOSITOL + NADH + B3 + Magnesium*among other things* and I know that looks like a bunch of alphabet soup and hard to think about getting into a kid,but it's been awesome for us. We had a bad day yesterday due to being out of Niacin (b3) I think.Niacin is an anti-anxiety helper.... he had a panic attack aka as " tantrum " in autism world. I call it a panic attack because it comes on out of nowhere (my daughter's meltdowns area little more predictable and she is the ASD kid! He " just " has ADHD + seizures) Â I have been on this site before and asked questions. You all have always helped me out then. Now I have another. Guest guest
It would be helpful to know what you have already done and how you did it. I can tell you that SSRIs *caused* aggressive and psychotic behavior in my son and it was a gradual decline (started out nice and then 1.5 years later I was terrified he was going to get into the knife drawer in the middle of the night and kill us all). I think that you might be better off telling us more because otherwise you're going to get a lot of people telling you things you may not need to do. Have you done any biomed at all or have you only done psych drugs? Why did you choose psych drugs? (I only think these are important because we need perspective. You don't want to get a bunch of people telling you to get off the drugs if she was 100 times worse before the drugs and there's a real safety issue, KWIM?) It's just easier to get help that is relevant and active with more information. The alternative is to continue to get people telling you to test for bacteria, viruses, lyme, pandas, etc. It's all going to be quite vague without specifics.I truly hope you can get this under control. It's heartbreaking to hear this. ~ Antiviral Therapy 101~ gryffinstail.wordpress.com/ ~~ @Gryffins_Tail ~ I have been on this site before and asked questions. You all have always helped me out then. Guest guest
Great points - if she was much worse before risperdal then yes of course you would want to keep her on it, but it sounds that is not the case here. Imo worth stopping risperdal to see if any difference. Same with Zoloft, although sometimes (not always) with SSRI tweaking the dose may make all the difference.
