Guest guest
It's complicated... :-D Usually, every Wednesday and Friday is a fast (veggie) day. Then there are 4 major fast periods, from 2 weeks to 40 days, through the year, and a couple of shorter fasts (all vegan). AND THEN, before or after the major fasts are " Bright Weeks " , when you are FORBIDDEN to fast. (And of course you shouldn't fast if under 13, over 65, pregnant, or some health reason, etc etc etc)... And then there are different intensities of fast - some days you can have fish/oil/wine, some days strictly veggie, some days you're not supposed to eat at all if you can manage, and and and... :-D Thank goodness every year there are calendars with all the info printed there for those of us with no memory!!!! And BTW, it's all a discipline instead of a " have to " , unless you've taken (usually monastic) vows.... in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return...
