Sorry; I use combo supp GABAplus by twinlab and I was using 2 of those caps with a GABA 750mg and a theanine serene.I am out of GABA and supposed to be streamlining here (broke, so broke) so I am doing without the GABA and have him on 5 caps

which used to be the recommended dose on the bottle, though now they have it listed as two.I am not sure what the total dose comes to. I think it's 1500mg. 550mg which is the dose on the plain bottle of inositol we have doesn't

seem to be completely effective here.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? :)

someone was talking about the inositol name... Enzymatic Therapy, Cell Forte with IP-6 & Inositol Ultra Strength Powder, http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Cell-Forte-with-IP-6-Inositol-Ultra-Strength-Powder-14-6-oz-414-g/2122?at=0We are not using it, but at the time it sounded really good, so I took note. don't know about dose as I'd never supplement with it.Sasha To: mb12valtrex Sent: Friday, November 18, 2011 5:59:44 AM Subject: Re: Re: What dosage of Inositol are you using?

We are using IP6 Gold. I started it to try and resolve a gallbladder poylp for my son vs take out the gallbladder. It is causing horrible pain. We started low to be sure of no reactions. He is now up to 4 grams a day steadily. We tried 5 grams a day but he seemed too spacey. Four grams is within the suggested therapuetic range that was suggested to me. 1 -2 grams a day is supposedly a good range for general wellness. Here are some interestign links on the research below. I will say that after a full month now, the pain is less for him, but also a added bonus is his vision has improved. He has Corticol Vision Impairment and it come it goes horribly. The past 3 weeks his vision has been excellent in compared to the past 18 months. One of the studies shows that it can reduce the amount of lipofuscins in retina related vision issues, so maybe that is an issue too for my son.

I checked the bottle, it's 600mg per capsule (of inositol) and so he is on 3000mg some days. I have made it variable to see if we canget by with less.

Thank you. This is helpful. I remembered reading you can go quite high. We

have increased up to 2,200 mg so far and are seeing great improvements. Of

course, we have made a lot of changes (mostly diet), so it can be difficult to

know which improvements come from which changes, even though we make one change

at a time. When he is doing well, I don't ever want to take something away to

see if he regresses. Haha.

If you don't mind my asking, what is the weight/age of your son?

LOL I hear you...If the improvements are in OCD/stimming/anxiety dept, I would attribute to the inositol.Hmmm upon typing this I am thinking maybe I should dose him out twice a day and perhapswe won't have the fear of bedtime issue anymore?!!!

That's what we do. We were giving it only in the morning and missed giving it

in the morning one day and definitely noticed a difference by the evening. So

we gave it at night and he fell asleep immediately!

Now we are dosing in the AM and right before bed. We dose his magnesium at the

same time. I have been able to reduce his melatonin and am actually going to

try to get rid of it completely and see how that goes.

Inositol is used for insomnia. Melatonin can cause anxiety. So if I can get

him off the melatonin and only use the inositol/mag instead (which helps with

the OCD/anxiety), that would be terrific. I am a fan of melatonin in general

because it is good for you, but it can also affect you negatively if you take

too much and who knows exactly how much is too much for my son?

Good thinking, thanks. I will likely not ditch melatonin all together since it has anti-oxidant properties but he likely does notneed to be what he's on - I think it's 5 mg.

We are using Country Life (which we can pick up at local health food stores)

inositol which is a powder. It is actually quite tasty, sweet. We have been

using Magnesium Citrate from Now brand and just bought Country Life. They are

pretty large (both brands), so at first I was cutting them into thirds, but he

still felt like they stuck in his throat. So I crush it and put it in mashed

banana and throw the powdered inositol in with it. That works well.

I really am amazed at how he is doing at this point. His OCD and controlling

behavior is WAY down. He is much more compliant and flexible.
