Guest guest
HI all! I have a question about a medical bill that I thought someone might have help for (some of you seem to know a lot about this). In January I went to the ER thinking I had carbon monoxide poisoning. They did a blood test and I didn't. I now have a bill because they said that it was a non-emergency use of the ER and my insurance only covers 50% of this. I thought it was an emergency! SO I got a copy of the records and they only put " nausea and fatigue " in the report, not anything about carbon monoxide, so the hospital told my insurance company that it wasn't an emergency. Is there any way to fight this or should I just suck it up and pay? Melinda
Guest guest
How do you know that the hospital told the insurance company that it was not an emergency. Sounds like an emergency to me. I think the insurance company is trying to find an excuse to not pay. I am sure the hospital has records showing that you thought you had CO2 poisoning. The fact that you did not does not mean anything. Call the hospital and ask for a copy of your records. You may need to pay for them but they will have them. Guest guest
Hey Melinda, I have a similar situation, and I am fighting it. My Insurance paid the Dr. fee for the ER visit (for my son), but denied the hospital part. How stupid is that??? So, I filed an appeal. I always fight when the Insurance tries to get out of paying claims. My vote *grin* is try to get it covered. I think Insurance companies do anything they can to get out of paying claims.
