Yep, I have optic neuritis. Doc says it's pretty mild right now and he believes it will stay that way. But, he said if the pain worsens or my vision gets wonky (wonkier?:) then he wants me admitted to the hospital for IV Solumedrol. He told me some interesting stats from a study on ON done about ten years ago. The study showed if a person has had MS for 10 to 15 years the odds of a bout of ON are in the high 90s. So I guess it was my "turn". My eyes are aching tonight but that is probably mostly from having my eyes dilated. After the appt we went out to eat Chinese and then to Walmart so my daughter could do her grocery shopping. I am SO darned tired now. hugs to each of you SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. When I looked it up, it sounded like you might have it. Luckily its mild, and I will be praying it runs its course and goes away soon. :-)

Take it easy, and maybe use a scooter to feed the critters from now on. :-) My son in law said if we had a farm he would build me walk ways I could use to get around the property. That sounded so good to me. But you might want to think about doing the same so you can get around better. I sure do like my power chair, but I never get out to use it much. But you can still go out, and any aid you can use will help you maintain your independence longer.

I know you know this, just wanted to remind you.

Hugs and Love, Jackie

May the peace of God be with you...the love of Jesus enfold you...and the Spirit of Christ fill you.

Sharon,

Well that would explain why we both have it going on now wouldn't it?

<half-hearted grin>

Doesn't make you feel any better knowing that though does it?

Would also explain why the O.N. sent me to the doctor for a Dx 10 years

ago though.. because my medical history showed that I had been already

dealing with the MonSter for at least 10 years..

And the eyeball pain is the pits.. but the light shows are worse (at

least for me they were.. can try to avoid eye movement, thus reducing

the pain.. can't avoid the light shows).. 5 minutes of them and it drove

me crazy..

But how much worse does he want it to get before he treats... the

fuzzies I can live with.. just move my glasses around until things clear

up.. even if that means the actual lens is on top of my head and I'm

looking through tilted bifocals to clear things up.. or I'm watching TV

with one eye closed.. reading the same way.. but the pain and light

shows.. those I don't well with..

Hope it clears up very quickly for you.. and that you are feeling right

smart real quick... just be careful when walking with the blurries.. if

you wear glasses now (and I'm pretty sure you do).. maybe getting a pair

of " cheaters " from Wal-Mart to toss over your regular glasses may help

with that for the time being..

Had the eye doctor suggest the " cheaters " when I was considering contact

lenses again.. but knowing that I already had to have the special

contacts for astigmatism (weighted) and then I'd be getting 1 lens for

distance and the other for reading.. and supposedly I would " adjust " to

that set up.. decided that I didn't think I was going to give it a try

at $300 a pop, just to find out it wasn't going to work.. The

alternative was get the regular distance vision glasses and a pair of

" cheaters " for reading.. (which again would be sort of pointless.. cause

I'd still have glasses on my face perched at the end of my nose for

reading.. or at the ripe old age of 38 or so have those Blue-haired lady

beads holding a pair of glasses around my neck like jewelry.. LOL)...

But I have considered playing with " cheaters " to wear over top of my

current glasses to bring things into focus more.. cause I'm not going to

go out and have new lenses put in my glasses (at $200) just to have

whatever O.N. is causing this now to go away, and leave me with glasses

and a prescription that's too strong!)..

It's always something isn't it?

FEEL BETTER FAST!!!

((((((( HUGS ))))))

Dear Sharon,

My MS had started with optic neuritis and was treated with steroids and had disappeared in 2 weeks and never seen afterwards. I hope yours will be the same, it has come but will go away the way it came.

Lots of luv,

Nukhet
