Guest guest
Sure no probl Jean. he is on Topamax,Depakene,Vimpat, and Banzel. From my own reasrch i had founded out that the Depakene:Valproic acid may cause serious or life-threatening damage to the pancreas. This may occur at any time during your treatment. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite. and he had all those symptom. but when he had all the test done his pancreas was fine they didn't think it was this med but with my request we will start tapering him off this one slowly and then the topamax. Now the banzel is a new seizure med that i love, it has saved his life and the Vimpat which is new too is a another life saver. It works as a crutch with the other seizure meds it has decreased my son's seizures by about 10 a month (he use to have about 30 a month...meaning like 4 a day or ect)and he's only been on it for about a month or so i love this med. His neuro is doing a study on it its a great med and the study isn't like making our kids out of Guinean pigs or anything. He just wants to see how fast the meds absorbs in the body and how long it last in the body ( he's known for doing research he's a great Dr he really cares about the kids) real simple it pays $200.00 if you interested i can give more details....but yeah those are his meds...i hate that he's on all those meds but when we tried to stop them once he ended up in ICU on a resperator because he aspirated from a seizure so i have no choice..but since he's gotten older his seizures have improved alot. I hope this helps or answer any or some questions...when it comes to meds i know about most of them he's been on every seizure med known to man, til they founded the right ones to help his seizures and with him he has to have brand name meds. I had to find out the hard way,one day the pharmacist screwed up and gave me generic and he went into seizures and we found out he can only do brand.....so as they say every kid is different.....lol if you have questions please feel free to email me.....thanks again and Happy Mother's Day to you .... Tracie Re: Strange Behavior or Maybe not???? When someone is making themselves vomit, it is a serious health risk and needs to be addressed right away. The key is to have medical professionals and behavior analysts work together. The medical professionals can determine if there is a biological component (there could be a biomedical reason making it easier for him to vomit) and the behavior analyst can determine the function(s) of the behavior so a plan can be written to address it. The behavioral literature has many studies on what is called "voluntary emesis" in developmentally disabled individuals. Usually (as what might have happened in your son's case) the behavior starts due to an illness and continues in part due to what "payoff" the individual got from the behavior. It could be sensory, attention(some individuals like attention from even doctor's, nurses or ER staff!), or avoidance since he has been kept home from school. Most likely it is a combination of "payoffs". Please contact me if you would like help finding a behavior analyst near you that has experience working with this kind of behavior. It usually does not go away on it's own. Jean Bachrach, BCBA Clinical Director Reaching Potentials > > Hello Group I have a question for everyone. I have a teenage son with autism/epilepsy (non-verbal) and he has been having episodes of vomiting. It started as a real illness that he did have i believe his Gastroenterologists said he had gastritis and gave him some meds for it. But He's been still vomiting. I took him to the ER twice and they ran every test known to man on him from injecting dyes in him to check all his organs to blood samples and so forth and they got nothing all test were negative. But now i have notice the vomiting has stopped but he is making himself vomit by sticking his fingers down his throat. He did it in my car yesterday and he did it in the house a few hours ago. i'm not sure if this is attention seeking or not. I'm just so confuse and i'm getting sick of going to the hospitals I don't want them to think i have Munchausen by proxy syndrome or something i'm just worried about him he has lost tons of weight from it. But since our last hospital sta y (last Wednesday) after they put him on a IV drip he has gotten his strength back and eating everything in site ( he wasn't eating anything the first few weeks when all this vomiting started,he was actually sick) i'm just confused. Oh and the times he was actually sick every time before he was about to vomit his forehead would get all wet and clammy like and so would his palms. Now when he's doing it (vomiting)that doesn't happen. Just thought it was worth a shot to see if anyone every experience this. Thank you so much. > wa
