Guest guest
I was recently diagnosed with both vestibulitis and cultured for a resistant strain of yeast, which I did indeed have (candida glabrata). My doctor prescribed both Estrace for the vestibulitis and Terazol (to take for 3 weeks) for the yeast. My question is, I never had any problems with sexual penetration or tampon insertion. the pain I noticed was a constant burning that's present all the time. I was treated for a yeast infection and overdid it myself on the MOnistat, which I've read can cause the rare strand of yeast to multiply and be more difficult to treat. I have abstained from sex since I started feeling the chronic burning (been tested up and down for std's and bacteria, etc--all came out negative). so, could the vestibular inflamation be from the glbrata yeast this whole time as I never had pain with intercourse, but clearly I would now if I even tried since I have this crazy yeast infection. I'm confused. seems like they both are contributing to one another but four months ago before diagnosed with a " Regular " yeast infection, which was cultured, I never had problems with sex. Guest guest
This is very similar to what happened with me. I had a weird strain of candida that I had alot of trouble getting rid of. By the time the yeast was gone, my pain had set me up for classic vulvodynia. I had extremely tight pelvic muscles, 24/7 burn and the horrible pasty white/grey irritating discharge. I kept thinking it was the yeast coming back, but it wasn't. The symptoms are just about all gone now with a good pt, doxepin (to quiet the nerves) and weekly diflucan to keep the any possible yeast infection away until my body is able to defend itself normally. Guest guest
Hi there, the best thing I know to tell you is to do all you can to make sure you correctly treat the yeast infection, and once you know for sure it is gone, 'then' I think you can determine if you actually have vestibulitis. To help with the burning until the Terazol kicks in, you could use an oral antihistamine. Wish I could be of more help..... ~Chelle
Guest guest
In the files section – Dee has her whole list of helpful hints for VV and yeast infections. I have read that list more times than I can count. When one thing doesn’t help, then something else will. Go to the files section and look for the list of hints. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Chelle Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 7:10 PM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: vestibulitis or resistant yeast infection??
