Guest guest
Hi Dee I am glad you enjoyed (I don’t think that is the right word LOL) the article. I have read it countless number of times and each time I come up with more and more information that makes sense. It really makes me think … I am weaning myself off the Neurontin, and may try Cymbalta next. I tried it a year ago and one pill made me very sick, but Carolyn told me she felt that way for the first couple of days and then it went away. There are a lot of good reports on Cymbalta. I am grasping at straws right now, trying to figure out what to do next. I always need to have a plan to keep me emotionally going. I belong to the Yahoo Chronic Pain Group who have members with all different kinds of pain – but you find out pain is pain and when it becomes chronic (and the definition of chronic is over six months) then it becomes a disease in of itself and needs to be treated along with the original condition. Until I came along a year ago, I know you were not aware of any of the conditions I have or my need for the use of narcotics. I have seen you go from being very skeptical and not understanding to a very sympathetic knowledgeable woman now. How much we share and learn from each other. Eventually I will get this sorted out and I refuse to give up. I still am very early in my recovery – but I am impatient and I think the more pain grabs a hold of you the harder it is for it to let go. But I will get there. Thanks for your compassion and understanding, I really appreciate it Dee. And thank you for placing the document in the permanent files for all to read. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Dee Troll Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 9:14 PM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: Understanding Neuropathic Pain WOW nne. I definitely agree with you hon on that great link you just sent on Neuropathic pain. Thank YOU... http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article1614.html Especially how it speaks about the differences between ''Nociceptive'' (ACUTE) pain and ''Neuropathic'' (CHRONIC) pain and how they are caused by different neuro–physiological processes and why different medications are needed. Speaking of medications they definitely went into all the various types, I'd be overwhelmed if I had to choose but it certainly gives enough options if one doesn't help. I also thought this quote was well worth remembering and a different take on the situation. ''Chronic Pain (Neuropathic) rather than being the symptom of a disease process, chronic pain is itself a disease process. " That is why it's the pain itself that needs treated the longer it's there if it's chronic and long term, regardless of the cause, versus an acute phase. Also just because these words 'somatic' & 'visceral' pain were within that article you might find this link interesting too hon that explains pain types (much shorter tho) and what those term mean as well. http://www.oncologychannel.com/pain/types.shtml Well I definitely can see what category you fit into hon and no doubt you saw yourself all over the place and believe me my heart goes out to you. *sigh* I know the suffering you've done and what you've gone thru (and still are in) and I sincerely wish for you from the bottom of my heart that you find the right treatment and pray that someday you will get relief from all of that. (and PDQ too) *grin* Big big ((hugs)) and thanks again for that 'keeper' Dee~
