Guest guest
Carolyn – I think I mentioned this to you once before. The first time I had internal PT, I almost flew off the table, the pain was so bad, and also when Dr. Conway did his very through pudendal exam. The pain was terrible when he pressed on the nerve. Six weeks - when I went for my first exam following surgery, I was scared to death to be examined, but when Dr. Conway did an internal, I didn’t feel any pain at all. He was delighted, because that told him that the nerve was no longer compressed. Also, by chance, today which is exactly nine months following my surgery, I had my first internal PT since that last time when it was so painful. I was scared to death again, but it did not hurt at all. So why I am I still in such awful pain – because the nerve is still healing and inflamed and also the retractors used during surgery caused this awful periformis issue and plus I still have Vulvodynia and Vestibulitis. I can keep the VV under control some of the time, but I still feel like I have been kicked by a horse, or hit by bat or something. I can’t stand, I can’t sit, I can’t lie on my back – the pain is brutual, and the narcotics only take the edge off. That is why I am looking into the Botox and the Lidocaine infusions. So, in response to your pain with PT – I am not a doctor, and the doctor you are going to see may say something different, but I think the PT pushed on your pudendal nerve. And the nerve is probably only irritated, not compressed or entrapped. Just my 2 cents worth. So you probably have a little PN, not PNE. And if you cannot tolerate internal PT, than PT is not going to cure you, no matter what others may say. And you have not gone back to PT since that happened. Have you had an internal exam? That will tell you a lot when you have that done. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Carolyn52192@... I don't think I am " entrapped " but I just couldn't tolerate it, so I thought maybe my nerves were dysfunctional causing the pain. C Need a new ride? Guest guest
Hi nne I do intend to take my many questions with me to my appointment. I found that article interesting about dysfunction of a nerve cell, not necessarily the pudendal nerve and thought perhaps that is why pt was so painful for me. I look to the group for insight because unfortunately the doctor I see just gives me a blank stare and states we don't know enough about it. But I do think hopefully Dr G will be able to help answer some questions for me, we will see. CNeed a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos.
