you are welcome nne. I would be happy to give even more details if you decide to try the Capsaicin. I'm a pro at this point, and it has truly saved my sanity. I was scared to try it too, believe me - it took them several months of convincing me to do it. But if my doctors are telling me "yeah, it's going to burn, but this is the one treatment that will really help you" - why not go for it? They did the first application for me in the dr. office which was extremely helpful, and calmed my fears a lot. It made me realize that it's no big deal. no pain, no gain, right? ;-)by the way, the starting dose is .025% strength, and make sure they compound it in acid mantle, which is the most gentle of all bases.nicoleTo: VulvarDisorders From: millburytimes@...Date: Thu, 24 Apr 2008 01:00:21 -0400Subject: /which treatment works?

Thank you for the instructions on how to use the CC – that was

extremely helpful. And you are so right about the pain. I have been having

trigger-point injections outside the vagina, and after having so much pain, a

little more doesn’t make much of, if any difference.

Anyway – thanks again

Hi all,

Yes! Capsaicin has made my life bearable. I'm 29, have had VVS since age

14. The usual story, have tried everything with awful results in

general. Since starting Capsaicin, after every time I use it, my pain and

itching literally go away for 8-10 hours. It always comes back, but my

pain overall has significantly decreased.

Honestly, I'm a VVS veteran, and have tried basically every single type of

treatment out there. That cream was the only thing that's ever allowed me to

have relatively pain-free sex (when I actually had a boyfriend:-)

It does burn, but I swear it was not as bad for me as it's made to sound.

For the first few weeks of using it I applied Lidocaine first, and now - over a

year later - I totally forget I even applied it, and I use a much higher

strength. I figure, I've already endured so much pain, what's a little

more if it's going to ultimately help me?

You do need a prescription for it, and it must be made in a compounding

pharmacy. I have mine compounded in acid mantle, which is a gentle

base.

To apply: (you need a hand mirror to apply it)

-If you want, apply Lido 10 minutes ahead of time

-Dry the area (painful parts of vulva) with a cotton ball

-put a LITTLE BIT on a q-tip and apply directly to vulvar area

-It may help to put ice pack between thighs - numbs the area a little

-Lay there bored for 20 minutes (read a good book or watch tv)

-Wet a cotton ball and wipe away (the burning will temporarily increase after

washing away - think drinking water after eating hot peppers)

After a while, you won't need the Lido, ice pack, and you can move around - the

burning gets less and less I promise.

let me know if you have any questions,

nicole

HI ...

;)

*Wow so you

were one of the braver ones hon to use the Capsaicin... *smile* Good for you

but better yet to know that it's helped so much. We've had women over the

years try it and it is suggested with the literature (and makes sense as to why

with substance P) but most couldn't endure it for very long. Anyway

so glad to hear from someone where it did help hon. Much appreciated.

Hi Bruna, I would like to highly suggest using

Capsaicin Cream. I've had VVS for 15 years and it's the only thing to

ever truly help me. It sounds crazy, but Cap cream is actually made of

hot peppers, and works on nullifying the painful nerves. It does burn to apply,

but gets much less painful over time. Let me know if you want to know

more about it.
