Guest guest
You know, it took me a while to get used to this message board format as well. From what I know (I'm new to apraxia) tone of voice, which is part of what they call " prosody " could be affected by apraxia. I imagine speech therapy should be able to help with that. The ProEFA that we started Lucas on also has some omega-6 fatty acids, and something else, I think, in addition to the omega-3, so the ProEFA has some extra stuff than just omega-3. Welcome to the board! > > Hi, I posted yesterday but did not see my post so I will try again:) > My son who is 8 yrs old has oral apraxia. Guest guest
Have you taken him for a CAP test or to an audiologist who specializes in sound therapies as AIT, Tomatis, the Listening Therapy Program, Interactive Metronome, etc. www.thedaviscenter.com has some information but you may want to do some research on the several programs available. You know your child best and something may trigger your red flags when you read through a google search on specific programs. Good luck Joanne [ ] Hello...new with ? Hi, I posted yesterday but did not see my post so I will try again:) My son who is 8 yrs old has oral apraxia. He gets speech therapy in school 5x per week, which is really helping with his articulation. However, the tone of his voice is sort of funny, he still sucks in his breath on his " s " 's and sort of yells his words. Is there anything that I can do with him that would help this? I started him on omega 3 fish oil....is this the same as the pro-efa recomended here?
Guest guest
--Hi, thanks for the response Joanne- no, he has never seen anyone who specializes in sound therapies but did get checked for his hearing way way back in the beginning when he was not talking, about 2 yrs old or so. I have heard of AIT and Berard and some of these but never really looked into them. I looked at the Center website and it looked like something that would probably help him but I think they are in NJ. Does anyone know of anything in the Mass area....I am in Boston. Thanks > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Ritas2boys, The Center and spectrum center may have an outreach program, but I found a brochure of conferences being held in Massachusetts. There are many therapies to help children & adults with Autism, Language delays, auditory processing differences, including hypersensitivity to sound, ADHD, Central Auditory Processing, & other behavior & cognitive problems. Maybe you can attend a workshop or conference and get more information. Good luck, Joanne [ ] Re: Hello...new with ? --Hi, thanks for the response Joanne- no, he has never seen anyone who specializes in sound therapies but did get checked for his hearing way way back in the beginning when he was not talking, about 2 yrs old or so.
