Guest guest
" It is extremely important to know that the conversion of the yeast form to the fungal form of Candida is partially dependent upon biotin deficiency. Dr. Yamaguchi and colleagues have recently found that when biotin is added to the medium in high levels, it can prevent the conversion of the yeast form of Candida to its fungal form. They have also found that the fatty acid oleic acid seems to prevent this same conversion. " I have been reading about enzymes and what they potentially has to do with some of my ailments ). I became curious about digesting sugars since I verge on having diabetes and because I have had chronic reoccurring candida for thirty years or so and believe that it has something to do with digesting sugar. I found out that diabetes is really a result of fat malabsorption--the inability of the body to digest fats and this causes the insulin and glucose dysfunction. I found out that a deficiency of Biotin (one of the B vitamins) causes the body to be unable to digest fat properly because the body is unable to produce Lipase which is the fat digesting enzyme. It might be worth the while of those with Candida problems to take large doses of Biotin. (always take it with a B complex--don't take any b vitamin by itself) AND Lipase, the fat digesting enzyme. It might be a good idea for those with diabetes to take these things (biotin and Lipase to make one able to digest fats). IN any case you might research this and be aware of what some are saying. I found out that there is an area of research that is finding that taking very large doses of biotin VERY MUCH affects the behavior of the yeasts. So, if one has damaged intestines where the enzyme producing organs are disabled--like from food sensitivities (gluten, milk)--and can't digest fat one is likely to have terrible candida problems. Also few of us eat much raw food and that is where we largely get enzymes. Some from food and some from within the body. The following is an article about this and some other things. I think having recurring yeast is like waging war as it is a many faceted condition. I doubt there is a simple answer and the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corp, and Merchant Marine have to mobilize to solve this thing. Diet, prescription antifungals, correct nutrition according to ability to eat major allergens (gluten and milk most specifically, and now attention to potentially lacking enzymes that prevent the body from functioning properly that may be involved. Allergy tests won't work for food sensitivities at least that is what doctors have told me for decades. The allergists won't tell you that however. It is a different kind of reaction that needs to be measured. http://www.mold-help.org/content/view/411/ Something has got to work. Guest guest
Hi Arline, Since I have yeast problems, I found the article about Biotin very interesting. Thanks for the link. Do you think it's safe to take such large doses of the Biotin? Kathy--- >
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Everything I have read says it is. I am taking very large doses and it doesn't do anything to me. Be sure to also take a B complex once a day with it so the B vitamins don't get unbalanced. Good luck!! Guest guest
Hi Arline, How long have you been taking the Biotin, and have you noticed any benefits from it yet? I have a bottle of 1,000mcg sitting on my counter and I'm considering trying it. Hey, nothing else is working! Good to know that you should also take a B complex with it. Thanks. Guest guest
Kathy, I just started this week and don't know anything yet. If I ever beat this thing I will shout it from the rooftops for you. Guest guest
Hi Arline, I'm going to do some online reading about the Biotin, but I'm definitely considering trying it. Baukti from this list suggested Caprylic Acid which is an anti-fungal and is something worth trying also. I hope I hear your shouting from the rooftops soon! Guest guest
I suggest that you do both. Guest guest
I have started taking a enzyme product called CandiZyme. It is supposed to help balance yeast by digesting the outer shell of the yeast. You take it on a empty stomach before going to bed. I'm going to try it for a month and see if it helps.... http://www.renewlife.com/Enzymes/CandiZYME.aspx
