Guest guest
Has anyone else been told by doctors that they have an impaired immune system? The nutritionist I'm seeing thinks all of my problems were caused by an impaired immune system from malnutrition/ nutritional deficiency. This makes sense to me, since my body is so weak it can't heal itself or fight off infection. I am trying to recover from a lifetime of anorexia. Many doctors tell me it's my own fault that I have IC, VVS, and chronic vaginal infection.
Guest guest
Yes! I to have been told this from a test performed from Dr. Ledger in NYC. He'd told me that I have a low MBL which is Manase Binding Lectin. And in a nut shell, it means that it makes it harder to fight off infection. I too have had the same thoughts you are asking yourself. I have VV for the past almost 5 years. I have never had any eating disorder, but sensitive to common cold and sinus infections. Guest guest
lulubuns, I do believe this could be true. I was told my immune system was way out of whack due to things like leaky gut syndrome - I was gluten intolerant and didn't know it, and it destroyed my intestines' ability to properly digest food and take in nutrients, so my body got way out of whack. I could probably use an even stricter diet than just gluten free but haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. I tried the Body Ecology Diet briefly and have heard it works miracles if you stick with it but haven't been able to yet. Melinda
Guest guest
Hi, I went to my regular doctor a few months ago and had some blood work done. When the results came back it showed that I had a low IgM level, so he sent me to a hematologist. The hemotologist said that it's nothing serious and there isn't anything they can do about it. He said it's possible that it's causing me to have frequent yeast infections. I saw my V specialist a couple weeks ago and when I told him that, he said a low IgM level wouldn't cause repeated yeast infections. He went on to give me some medical explanation. It's very frustrating! Kathy. >
Guest guest
Yes it does seem like a real possibility. I hope you are getting good medical help for your eating disorder? I don't like the judgemental attitude of those doctors who are pointing a finger of blame at you. Guest guest
Laurie, That's awful! Anorexia is a disease just like cancer is a disease. It's not your "fault." YEESH! Plenty of women WITHOUT anorexia have IC, vulvodynia, etc. Don't let that get you down. You will find the answer to this and get through it. Obviuosly good nutrition helps, as does exercise, a sense of humor, etc. Hang in there. Lindsey Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
