[sorry so long!]

Hi folks,

I haven't been on this board in about a year, since my laparoscopy for

endometriosis. I've

been feeling " mostly " well for " most " of that time (80–90%) and have trying to

work on my

dissertation. But recently the berberine that I've been relying on to suppress

yeast and

allergenic molds quit working (every antifungal I've used, both herbal and rx,

eventually

loses its efficacy, usually after about 9 months), and I'm once again in pain

with allied

mold symptoms and feeling discouraged. I've spent the day reading over posts

from the

last six months, trying to catch up with members and their approaches. I could

use some

feedback/advice.

I'm currently on a gluten-free, anti-allergenic diet (I'm gluten intolerant,

insulin resistant,

and allergic to EVERYTHING). I take Allegra daily and a whole slew of

supplements [Fungal

Defense (this seems to be helping), a supermulti, fish oil, quercetin, biotin,

NAC...]. I did

PT years ago and try to practice the breathing/internal massage techniques I

learned. I'm

in (emotional) therapy and have joyfully returned to art-making after a long

lapse. In

short: like the rest of us, I'm doing my best!

I'm a patient of Dr. Metzger's--I know she's controversial but she's really

helped me--and

she has encouraged me to finally commit to her allergy desensitization program

(in the

past, I kept quitting as the skin mold drops always increased my symptoms--a

sign that

they are definitely a, if not " the, " cause). She also said I could experiment

with topical

estrogen, though I'm worried about the possibility of increased yeast. Dr.

Metzger

suggested years ago that I get tested for lyme, but I got distracted dealing

with the

endometriosis; now it's back on my to-do list.

Has anyone out there who's responded to antifungals actually been able to get

off them,

especially those who have mold allergies? Is there anything I'm overlooking (or

overemphasizing) in my approach?

Thanks so much for reading...

P.S. My diet is also low-glycemic, as recommended by Dr. M--strict candida diets

made

me feel worse.

P.P.S. Sorry for the weird formatting!

Have you tried the Yeast Arrest Boric Acid Suppositories? I made sure I used them when I tried estrace.

Not that much relief with Estrace. I found out that I am low testosterone and DHEA. I take DHEA orally and use testosterone cream. The docs test showed on the LOW side of normal so the first doc said i was NORMAL, but I was not having to shave my legs and I had no sex drive. So I knew that I was NOT normal for ME! Taking the DHEA and testosterone also helped lighten up my periods. A few years ago I tried the estrace and ate lots of soy and I was bleeding like crazy.

What I eat seems to help me a lot.

Thanks for your reply, Blueeberri. I used Yeast Arrest off and on for years--it

just caused

me more irritation. All things topical seem to be aggravating/insufficient (I

just tried

gentian violet with no effect except a stained bathroom). I do, however, take

HMF Replete

(a super strong probiotic) along with the herbal antifungals. Did you get some

relief with

Estrace?

That's really interesting--I'm low in DHEA, too, and just started supplementing

with 10

mg. per day (I like the increase in sex drive, but the leg hair and oily skin

are driving me

crazy!).

How much Estrace was leading to increased bleeding? I have a Mirena IUD to

reduce

periods, associated flares, and endometriosis. I want to be careful not my tip

myself in an

overly estrogenic direction.

Thanks again for your feedback!
