Guest guest
I lurk here sometimes having been a constant lister a while back. I have been through all the pain and sleepless nights. The vulvodynia was practically constant with me and it was burning pain. I took the amitriptyline and then added neurontin. It helped the pain considerably. I did go to Dr. . Of course all the stuff with special detergent, soap, underwear etc. were follwed. Ice packs were my salvation. The relief was gradual with gains and set backs. Today I have twinges of pain sometimes but it goes away. I take 100mg of neurontin a couple of times a week but I am not sure it is necessary but it IS insurance. I try not to stay fully dressed all day into the evening...I'll change into a skirt with no panties or something. Yesterday, though, I wore pants all day without a problem. Other things that helped me: Using emu oil as a barrier between myself and panties. Taking hormones but nothing with propylene glycol or the like for topical use. Of course hormones were appropriate for me. Dealing with the stress: Using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques- emofree.com) to calm myself and work towards healing. Thank you Okler for introducing me to this and for your encouragement. After a couple of years of having practically dropped out of living (except for having to work despite the pain) I am back playing with my dogs, walking them, gardening etc. My hubby and I enjoy sex. Set your goal of total healing. Do everything you can to get there. A favorite line from the old movie Miracle on 34th Street is " Faith is believing in things that common sense tells you not to " Believe. Guest guest
I got up to 150mg of amitriptyline for a short time with about 1200- 1500 with neurontin. When I added the neurontin, the cocktail of the two meds helped me the most. After a while I started to wean down to lower dosages until I finally stopped the meds. My pain was primarily the outside area of the vagina and the clitoral area. It's been a year since I weaned off the meds except for the occassional 100mg of neurontin. I only lurk now on this group because I don't want to dwell on my past problem. However, anyone who wants to e-mail me should please feel free to. Guest guest
Hi Diane, Nice to hear from you and that you are doing so well. Glad you found the EFT worthwile as well. It takes so littel time to learn and it is soooo effective. Best part is it is free!!! I was just in Charlotte a few weeks ago to help my cousin Rick who had his shoulder replaced. He was tossed out of Physical Therapy because he wasn't making progress. So I went down and worked on him. They really didn't address the critical issues and never put thier hands on him, just modalities and exercises. *sigh* Also drove down to attend a wedding in Greenville SC. How close are you to Concord Mills Outlet Mall??? He lives about 7 min away from there. If you have any PTs in your area who do Pelvic floor, IC and related issues, please send me thier names and addresses as I am holding my first All, External Evaluation and Treatment of Women's Pelvic Floor Dysfunction course in September and I will send them a flyer. The course is unique in that i will teach them: Muscle Energy, Counterstrain, Ischemic Trigger Point Releases, Tissue Mobilization, AND EFT. So it will be a very different approach and there will be no internal work what so ever. You can also send them to my website www.tomocklerpt.com and ask them to click on the seminar link to see all of my courses for 2008. Perhaps next time I am in Charlotte we can have lunch. I am meeting and treating one of the ladies from this site this next weekend in Ames Iowa, at Iowa State University. I'm teaching there this weekend and thought why not see what we can fix. Hope you continue to mend and again very happy to hear you are doing much better and back to enjoying wearing jeans!!!! :-) Tom Ockler P.T. www.tomocklerpt.com dljcsp wrote: >I lurk here sometimes having been a constant lister a while back. >I have been through all the pain and sleepless nights. Guest guest
HI Diane... Gosh it's been a long time that I haven't seen your name or a post hon. Nice to hear from you but even better news is to hear that things have turned around for you and life is good again. That's wonderful news !!!! I'm so happy to hear too that the EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques http://www.emofree.com/ worked so well for you in conjunction with other things. I'm know of it and I know Tom really likes it as well, so it's always great to hear a testimony to it's powers hon. Way to go! Much continued success. hugsDee
Guest guest
Thanks, Dee. I don't know if anyone gets Dr. Mercola's newletter. He is an integrative health Doctor and is very informative. He actually uses EFT in his own practice and recommends it highly. And, best of all, it is free. Anyone can go and download a free book on how to do it!
