I'm here infrequently so I'm sorry if this has aleady been covered. I

am considering a vestibulectomy. My doctor removes the Bartholin's

Glands as part of the procedure. I am wondering how these glands

affect vulvar vestibulitis which is my issue. I haven't been to this

doctor in over a year. Of course when I see him again I will ask him

but I wanted to ask you gals since you are experts! Has anyone here

had this procedure done? I just want to know what to expect in the

aftermath and what the general recovery time is.

Thanks!

Marcia :)

Marcia, I had a Vestibulectomy. I was completely healed in ten

days. I had very little pain – only when urinating and then I used a squirt

bottle of water which took care of it.

Hi nne: Yes, we emailed offline about it. I read that it can

take over an hour to remove EACH Bartholin's Gland. My doctor thinks

that vestibulectomy by itself doesn't fully address the problem. So

I was wondering if anyone here had those glands removed in addition

to the " regular " vestibulectomy. I read that after this procedure

one needs at least 2 weeks of strict bed rest. I just don't know

anyone who has had the same procedure. I haven't even talked to him

about it yet. I am attempting to wait until the end of summer as

there are things in my life I HAVE to do. I'm wondering not only

about recovery time but also wondering if there really is such a

thing as a complete cure for vestibulitis.

Thanks!
