yes Estrace has been prescribed to be used intravaginally (with the applicator) for faster restoration (esp. if menopausal) but it's been used in those younger for a shorter term too. it's a 'jump start' using it that way.

That or the Vagifem tablets that are inserted which is less messy, and both products are estradiol estrogen, so they're both the bio-identical estradiol our own body produces. One other is the E-String it too is estradiol... but it's an appliance that's inserted and slowly releases estradiol over a 3 month period. Some like it, some don't, and it's a very minimal amt. of E and usually not enough to even need a progesterone or progestin with it. (ditto with the Vagifem tablets being they're so low in the amt. of E in them)

But the Estrace cream may irritate if you're already inflammated or irritated, and that's why some get their E cream 'compounded' in a milder base.

If you've been following us for any length of time, I too had the same reaction with the Estrace, (even just topically) So I could only use it every 3rd or 4th 'night' before bedtime, then I'd have to wait till things simmered down, then use it again, but I never would 'not' use it. With time as the skin got healthier and healthier I used it more often till I was finally well but it sure took 'time'. Others have no problem with it at all.

Today, I would get the 'estradiol' compounded in a NY heartbeat.. but if I were you, yes I'd try it again, just that small peasize dab though and if it irritates just back off again, then go back to it. It really does take patience and persistence and to not be tempted to use 'more'... Listen to your body. *smile*

Anyone use estrace internally? It was prescribed to me to insert 2xs a week internally. This was a while back when my pain was at its max. I couldnt use it because it made me burn more. I'm wondering now though since my pain level is down so much if it might work better this time..Lee Ann
