Guest guest
I was prescribed Gabapentin 300mg. Before I start taking it I would like to hear from others who have tried it. Specifically if it caused you any bad side effects? Thanks!

Guest guest
I take 300 mg at night (started about 2 or 3 months ago at 100mg and worked my way up). So far no difference in pain level. After I take it at night it makes me tired - which is fine by me because I generally have trouble sleeping. Also, I've gained about 5-7 pounds generally my weight's pretty stable so I think it's the meds. I think I'll try a little higher on it, and then call it quits. I don't want to gain too much more weight for no benefit. nicole ________________________________ > To: VulvarDisorders > From: dljcsp@... > Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 01:43:40 +0000 > Subject: Re: Gabapentin > > > >> >> I was prescribed Gabapentin 300mg. Guest guest
Hi,It made me exhausted and I felt like I was completely out of it, even 24 hours after taking it. I could only try taking it two times before I decided this was not for me. Meg
Guest guest
I did Neurontin (generic is gabapentin) for a different nerve problem back in the late 90s and I found that it caused my mouth to get very dry. I take 600 in am and 600 in PM. I am not sleepy - no more brain fog than usual ! My weight has not changed. I have done very well on it - just adding my two cents. Guest guest
I take 3600 mg of Gabapentin (the maximum dose), and I have no side effects. But I also think it doesn’t help either. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of lulubuns Sent: Monday, May 12, 2008 8:38 PM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Gabapentin I was prescribed Gabapentin 300mg. Guest guest
My 2 cents worth, when I was really burning, and I empahsize burning, I took up to 3600 mgs/day neurontin + effexor + elavil+ vicodin. YES, there are side effects, but I tolerated them as my burning stemmed from nerves. After @ 3 months, I began to wean down on all drugs. Now I take 800mg/day neurontin + 50 elavil at nite. NO effexor or vicodin anymore:) Remember, this helped me and may not be the right course for you??? I am DX w/ DV. Joyce

Guest guest
Hi, I take 600mg Gabapentin in the morning and 600mg at night. I had tried other meds that made me totally out of it, but I find I only get slight dizziness on Gabapentin. I had a small area of scar tissue that was not responding to anything and was causing major probs, it's no longer a pro with the meds. Hope this helps. Chris Gabapentin I was prescribed Gabapentin 300mg. Before I start taking it I wouldlike to hear from others who have tried it. Specifically if it causedyou any bad side effects? Thanks! Guest guest
Note: Gabapentin is the SAME THING AS NEURONTIN!! It is the name of the Generic. It is a little cheaper for the insurance. It helps me a lot, in fact it was the key to my mostly-recovery. No side effects. > > Dear Members, > I recently read on another V V list that someone is taking a drug called > Gabapentin. > Has anyone ever heard of it? Guest guest
Hi. I take 3000 per day. It is a wonderful drug and has given me my life back. I didn't want anyone to think Gabapentin was separate from Neurontin, which has been discussed a lot. > >, could you tell me what does of Gabapentin you are taking??? > > Thanks > Jena > > Note: Gabapentin is the SAME THING AS NEURONTIN!! Guest guest
> Hi , Thanks you, did you have any side effects?? No side effects from Gabapentin. >did you ever try Amitriptyline?, Yes, I took Amitriptyline for 4-5 years, 150 mg per day. It helped a little bit, not a lot however. >I am taking Gabapentin but only 1200 mg a day and I still have pain, how long did it take before you seen improvement on Gab.?? It fixes you immediately, within hours. 1200 mg is a very small amount. It might not be enough to notice. However, it doesn't help everyone, only those whose pain is caused by over-firing nerves. >and also are you taking it at night or in a divided dose, in morning and night.?? I take it all through the day. Morning, noon, evening, night It wears off in about 6 hours. > Sorry for all the questions > Thanks a bunch You're very welcome! Guest guest
Everyone is so different – just because it works well for one, does not mean it will work well for another. It is no different than any other medication, in regards to how it works on the human body. I take Gabapentin 3600mg broken up in 1200mg, every eight hours. I have been on it for two years, and it has not done one thing for me. I tried Amitriptyline, and got urine retention, Lyrica gave me a seizure and Cymbalta made me very sick to my stomach. Basically there is nothing left for me to take and Gabapentin has never given me any side effects so my doctor wants me to stay on it. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of jen9952 Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 10:43 AM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: Gabapentin > > >, could you tell me what does of Gabapentin you are taking??? > > > > Thanks > > Jena > > > Note: Gabapentin is the SAME THING AS NEURONTIN!! Guest guest
Hi – not really true that it works for pain from over-firing nerves, as that is what I have, and it doesn’t do a darn thing for the pain. So you can’t generalize on how these medications work. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Mace Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 1:37 PM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: Gabapentin > Hi , Thanks you, did you have any side effects?? Guest guest
Okay well I have " ion channel irritability " , which neurontin works fairly well on, I mean, I'm not cured which is why I need to investigate Lamictal. Have you (nne) tried that? It is a different nerve channel one. I guess my personal definition for " ion channel irritability " is " overfiring nerves " , LOL. > > Hi - not really true that it works for pain from over-firing nerves, as that > is what I have, and it doesn't do a darn thing for the pain. Guest guest
I have heard of Lamictal, but haven’t tried it and it has not been suggested to me either.
