Guest guest
Vestibulitis pain is part of the pelvic floor therapy. It is the same physical therapy, internal myofascial release. Also, besides the internal work, the physical therapist does skin rolling on the vulva and the perineum area. Both of these therapies theoretically are suppose to help the pain of vestibulitis. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of jammiekern Sent: Thursday, May 15, 2008 2:55 PM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: physical therapy what exactly is the physical therapy for vestibulitis and the experiences leading a person to need this therapy? thanks Jammie
Guest guest
Hi, Jammie, I'm not sure that I understand the second part of your question...but go to: www.pelvicpainrehab.com they have some good articles. I am almost 100% better with pt and estrace. Lindsey
Guest guest
Jammie, There is a group called Happy Pelvis on yahoo that knows more, but basically PT can help because we get into a pain cycle of tensing and it affects the WHOLE pelvic floor, not just the vestibule. My PT does skin rolling on the thighs, butt, and vulvar area, as well as internal work and dilators. I can have pain free sex because of this! You have to find a PT trained in skin rolling - they are few and far between but totally worth it. Melinda
Guest guest
Thanks everyone, I NEVER would have imagined physical therapy inside the vagina. The 2nd part of my question was about whether or not my experience would lead me to physical therapy. Just trying to relate my issues to others' issues. So if penetration is next to impossible, and always causes a large tear-we're talking sex, not tampons or finger. Then I should seek out some PT. I'm willing, I'm just exhausted at the thought of going for months or however long to get better. If it brings us closer I'll do just about anything. Guest guest
My PT does physical therapy called “when sex hurts”. That is what she specializes in. 98 percent of her patients go from not being able to insert anything to complete sexual penetration in 12 weeks. She has helped many women who had never consummated their marriage. If you get the right PT, then you will be fine. This is her web page so you can at least read about what she does. http://www.pthelp.com/when-sex-hurts.htm It is possible for you to get well. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of jammiekern Sent: Friday, May 16, 2008 12:49 AM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: physical therapy Thanks everyone, I NEVER would have imagined physical therapy inside the vagina. Guest guest
Jammie, For a lot of us, it seems to be a combination approach that works best. Using topical Estrace has helped my vulvar skin a lot, along with (home) PT and skin rolling -- one of my biggest problems is misalignment of my pelvis. That can lead to muscle tightness and nerve compression, etc. Checkout the Database on the homepage...there are several PT's listed that are updated in the latest techniques to treat pelvic floor dysfunction. Also, we have some files updated by nne that are really good info on PT. Hang in there... Chellejammiekern wrote: Thanks everyone, I NEVER would have imagined physical therapy insidethe vagina.
