Guest guest
This is a clip from Dr.R.Jelovsek on vulvar pain where he also mentions using T. to thicken the V tissue. Though where he talks about E external to the hymenal tissue I feel he's totally wrong. http://www.wdxcyber.com/vulvapain.htm It's titled 'Tips for Chronic Vulva Pain.' <Clipped> Building Up or Thickening the Vulvar Skin ''Sometimes the vulvar skin becomes very thin and thus more susceptible to any sort of irritation or inflammation. This is much more common after the menopause or in any hypoestrogenic states. The skin just outside they hymeneal ring at the entrance to the vagina is usually not very sensitive to estrogen treatment. Sometimes the estrogens can produce more vaginal secretions and thus help the vulvar skin, but for the most part topical estrogens do not tend to thicken the skin outside the hymenal ring.'' (NOTE: I completely disagree there with him about E not being that effective outside the Hymenal ring. FAR too many have experienced those benefits, especially on the labia minora and clitoral area to restore that tissue (and it's definitely outside of the hymen and that with younger women as well as older! A brand new CME this month in fact promotes it for topical use *FINALLY* for LS unfusing of the adhesions, and I've been suggesting it for 10 yrs!...I've seen articles that talk about E. receptors that ARE on the vulva indeed. (Previously they said there weren't and why the topical use of E or T wouldn't help. *sigh* ) Dee ''Testosterone, 2% in an ointment base may sometimes help to thicken the skin in this area. If you think that the skin is overly dry and thin you might want to discuss the use of a topical testosterone ointment with your physician. Topical steroid creams will thin the skin in this area should be used only sparingly as your doctor prescribes. '' Dee
