Guest guest
My boyfriend and i were fooling around last night...and for a second just for a second his penis ended up jabbing me at the entrance of my vagina and it hurt so much tears immediately sprang to my eyes. I think i'd feel better about this whole thing if even the slightest touch at the vestibule did not make me want to scream out in pain. :-/ I would use lidocaine but it burns so much. Also is it even available over the counter/ Has anyone found relief by doing self physical therapy? Using dialators to stretch out the muscles and moving up dilators as the muscles get more stretched out? I'm also thinking of trying emu oil. My doctor keeps telling me to use the estrogen lidocaine cream but i can't seem to make myself do it. I also haven't been physical therapy since February because i got so depressed about the whole thing. I guess i just need validation that this is something that can get better. Guest guest
When I read your post, I felt compelled to reply because I can relate to what your going through. My advice is to go back to Physical Therapy, do self PT on yourself daily (use vaginal dilators..I use them myself) and do exercises such as the pelvic drop. I swear by Emu oil (www.laidinmt.com where I buy it) and I like it so much I had the pharmacist at Bellevue compound it in Estradiol. I use Emu oil as a lubricant and it doesn't irritate me at all. I have a script for Lidocaine for the use of painful intercourse but I haven't built up the courage to try it yet. The area of pain for me is the 6 o'clock area, my hymen is very sensitive. I have vulvar vestibulitis syndrome, dyspaurenia, pelvic floor dysfunction and atopic dermatitis (eczema). I have pain on contact, which makes intercourse painful and discomfortable to say the least. What is your diagnosis, symptoms, and what meds/treatments have you tried or had success with? ** Stay Positive and Open-Minded Ouch My boyfriend and i were fooling around last night...and for a second just for a second his penis ended up jabbing me at the entrance of my vagina and it hurt so much tears immediately sprang to my eyes. Guest guest
HI Starry... If "I" were you, I'd definitely be listening to my doctor with him telling you to use the Estrace estrogen cream topically. That is what restores the health to that skin and gives it back it's tone and resiliency, it's stretchability so to speak. It's food & nourishment only for that part of your body and rarely systemic unless it's overused in case you were concerned about that or I'm wondering why you've been reluctant. I sure feel for you though and have had that happen myself, it's like trying to break a damn when it doesn't hit just right it's like hitting your head on a brick wall as you go thru the ceiling. *Ouch*is right! Of course I've heard him scream too when that happens and he thought he broke his willy. LOL Hugs hon and hope you're feeling better today. Guest guest
Starry, Are you still wearing underware? That was what caused my vestibulitis. Within a week of not wearing underware the vestibule was completely painfree. I know that is not everyone's solution, but it was the nerves being compressed for me and once that was taken away, it was fine. I have to do skin rolling at the perineum and hymen before sex as those are still very tight and painful from my daughter's birth, but once my husband does the skin rolling, I am fine for sex. I went to Rhonda K. 3 times and am just doing everything at home. I have/had no insurance and so we could only afford 3 visits out of pocket, but it was so worth it and now our lives are total different. I wish that one day you will have that pleasure! in IL > > My boyfriend and i were fooling around last night...and for a second > just for a second his penis ended up jabbing me at the entrance of my > vagina and it hurt so much tears immediately sprang to my eyes. Guest guest
Physical therapy and dilators did make me better. It can work but it takes a long time and you have to work at it, you have to do it at home and not just with the PT. Lidocaine has to be Rx'ed, I think... Guest guest
Hi. Before my surgery I could not put ANY chemical on my vestibule. I tried Estrace and it burned for 3 days. Burned like THROUGH THE ROOF. I could not tolerate lidocaine in any way shape or form. Chemicals were the worst. I had these terrible nerve endings. I understand completely. I don't know what to tell you to do, except this: don't force yourself to put any chemicals on those painful spots no matter what anyone says. I know what you are going through. > > I would use lidocaine but it burns so much. Also is it even available > over the counter/ > > Has anyone found relief by doing self physical therapy? Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for the emu oil recommendation. My diagnosis is vulvar vestibulitis, vaginismus, and vaginal pruitis (i'm not sure if i'm spelling that right). I have dealt with itching and general irritation of the external vulva for years. Currently i am applying hydrocortisone cream at night and taking doxapin at night to help with the itching and to break the itch scratch cycle. These both help but i have trouble keeing up with it. My vestubilitis pain is at the bottom portion of the vestibule towards the left side. I am currently prescribed a lidocaine/estrogen compound for it but i have been having trouble keeping up with this as well. I was also told to go to PT but i haven't gone since february so now i have to get another referral. Thank you for your reply! > > > When I read your post, I felt compelled to reply because I can relate to what your going through. Guest guest
Hi Dee, You are always so helpful in your replies, thank you. I haven't been reluctant to use the estrogen compound as much as i've been unmotivated. I KNOW the way to get better is to continue with treatment but i've just been so depressed about it i can't seem to motivate myself to do any of it. I am going to attempt using it again though because i definitely remember the pain diminishing slightly when i used it very regularly. I don't understand why that area hurt so much though when that happened last night because usually...i'm aware that something is about to try and enter me and i feel that i tense up my muscles more which leads to more pain. But this was still just as painful as it would have been had i known. :-/ I am feeling better today, thank you. -- In VulvarDisorders , " Dee Troll " wrote: > > HI Starry... > > If " I " were you, I'd definitely be listening to my doctor with him telling you to use the Estrace estrogen cream topically. Guest guest
That's terrible, i've never heard of estrace burning for three days straight. That just sounds absolutely awful. What surgery did you have? > > > > > I would use lidocaine but it burns so much. Also is it even available > > over the counter/ > > > > Has anyone found relief by doing self physical therapy? Guest guest
I had " Vestibulectomy " . My surgeon removed a piece of skin in the shape of a doughnut and then patched it together with less sensitive skin. Now I can use Estrace. The thing is, if something causes pain, it just keeps on hurting because I have issues with my nerves and muscles, that the pain keeps on going for days. > > That's terrible, i've never heard of estrace burning for three days > straight. Guest guest
Yes, Lidocaine has to be prescribed – get the 5%, the 3% doesn’t help at all. Right now I am trying to get some Elma cream. It is sold in England and Canada over the counter, but I have been looking online for it and haven’t had any luck. If anyone has purchased it, I would appreciate it if they emailed the details on where they got it. Elma cream completely deadens the area where it is applied – so much so that you have to be careful not even to rub yourself too much as you won’t feel a thing and could cause damage. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of starrydust182 Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2008 2:12 AM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: Ouch Thank you that helps a lot to hear. > > Physical therapy and dilators did make me better. Guest guest
I think the reason you haven't found Elma cream is because it is actually called Emla cream. I haven't used it personally but I know they can use it on kids before starting an IV or giving shots, you just have to let it absorb for about 20 min. I just looked it up and the first thing that came up was www.westcoastskin.com for $31.50/tube. Hope that helps. > > > > Physical therapy and dilators did make me better. Guest guest
I was to my doc yesterday who finally prescribed testosterone after I heard it from several of you for so long. She said the base of the compound is very important. She seemed to think that a vaseline base is most tolerable but many of these treatments come with an alcohol base which will irritate us for sure. She ordered 2% testosterone and said if it was too strong (i.e. started giving me dirty dreams as one of her 75yr old patients complained of, LOL), I could dilute it in more vaseline. Just a thought. > > > > > I would use lidocaine but it burns so much. Also is it even available > > over the counter/ > > > > Has anyone found relief by doing self physical therapy?
