Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've been taking a high dose of Urso since January, and have been feeling fine. Yesterday, I started getting itching all over my body. It's not unbearable yet, but I'm concerned about what it might mean. I'm also on Colazol for ulcerative colitis, and have noticed changes in my stool. I don't have a hepatologist yet, because I just moved to a new city and don't have an appointment for several more weeks. Normally I see Dr. Lindor at the Mayo Clinic. I'm also going on a three week long trip out of the country. Do I need to make any changes to my plan? Puneet
Guest guest
I wouldn't make changes to you plans yet, but you should check in with a DR. You might want to call your old Dr to see what he thinks. I go through itching spells, and most of the time the Dr doesn't do anything for it. You definitely don't want to get out of the country, and then get sick! That's never good. I travel to Africa every year, but I make sure things are all in order before I go. Good luck, I hope I have helped a little. > > Hi Everyone, > > I've been taking a high dose of Urso since January, and have been > feeling fine. Guest guest
Puneet... I suffered itching for several months before the folks at Mayo put me on Rifampin, 300 mg twice daily. That stopped the itching within a day and I haven't had any recurrences. Itching is pretty common as PSC progresses. Some doctors might prescribe Questran as a first choice, but that did absolutely nothing for me. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Puneet Itching was one of my first symptoms and it is terrible sometimes. I haven't started the medications yet for it, just taking ursodiol. I notice that when I don't take the urso for a few days (still getting used to taking meds everyday) then I itch a lot. People have suggested stuff like benadryl creams but those don't work for me. Taking luke warm showers and slathering on the lotion and sleeping with a fan on (so I'm really cold) help me most. Oh and I am only in the early stages of the disease so I'm not sure what itching " means " I think it's just something that some people get, some don't. Good luck to you! dx psc 8/3/07 Yesterday, I started getting itching all over my body. > It's not unbearable yet, but I'm concerned about what it might mean.
