Guest guest
Hi ladies! I've been reading this message board ever since I was diagnosed with VVS back in April. I had been having pain/sore spots for almost a year. Saw my primary Dr., and 2 OB/GYN's before being referred to a Vulvar Specialist. Anyway, She diagnosed me with VVS. The pain is mostly from various gland openings around the Vestibule. She prescribed me Estrace cream to use 1x a day and also put me on 25mg of Nortryptline(sp?). I recently stopped the Nortryptline b/c of side effects and after 2 months, I hadn't noticed a bit of difference being on it. I am still using the estrace cream but have upped it to 2x's a day and have also added Emu Oil. I don't go back to see this Dr. until mid June. I realize that healing this area is a slow process. I have no idea what brought VVS on in the first place. Up until last summer, I never had any issues down there are all. It is SO frustrating...the constant discomfort, the avoidance of intercourse b/c of the pain that follows. I know you guys can relate. I have been reading all of the posts and have learned quite a bit so far. It is so nice to have found people that are suffering with the same problems. I don't feel so alone anymore. Well thanks for reading and I hope to post more often, but will always be reading the new posts! Pam

Guest guest
Hi, I'm a new lurker jumping in, too! I'm not Pam, but I was also recently diagnosed with VVS, and at least as far as I know I never had an infection or injury that caused my VVS. I first became sexually active at age 21, and sex was prohibitively painful from the get-go. I'm 29 now, and happily married, and I am SO relieved to finally have a diagnosis! I share Pam's appreciation for this community. I've only been a member for a few days, but already I'm so glad to have found a community of women who understand what I'm going through. Many thanks, Hi ladies! I've been reading this message board ever since I was > diagnosed with VVS back in April. I had been having pain/sore spots > for almost a year. Guest guest
Hi Pam, I am just curious about something, so your saying that you never had an infection or injury that started your vulvodynia?? ? Baukti I was treated for Bacterial Vaginosis after the redness/sore spots started. I had no symptoms of BV, but a culture came back positive, so I was treated for it and it never returned. The small sore spots that had developed looked like fissures and were incredibly painful! It was so frustrating b/c nobody could tell me what was going on! I had been tested for every STD out there and everything came back Negative. I have never had a yeast infection, either. It wasn't until I saw the specialist back in April that I learned what was going on. I just wish there was a quick, simple solution to make it go away! I've changed laundry detergents to the clear/free kind & stopped using fabric softeners & dryer sheets. I've even stopped taking bubble baths, and using body wash directly on my vaginal area. I hate that I can't pin point what brought this on, and how difficult it is to make it go away.
Guest guest
I hope you find your answers. My vulvodynia came from chronic infections and very low hormones. I am much better (six years later) then I was when this all started. My daughters vestibulitis came from Crohn's disease. She is 100% cured. Guest guest
C. I went to Dr. Nyjirsey for two years. His protocol was Elavil, Desiparmine, Neurontin and Gynazole. He didn't like any input from me about my treatment and wasn't willing to try new things that I found in this group. He is supposed to be an excellent surgeon, but I have DV so surgery wasn't an option. I didn't like him. I switched to Kellogg-Spadt almost three years ago. I LOVE her. She will try anything and is very progressive in her thinking and her treatment. I've been taking my daughter to her since she is 15.
