Guest guest
Our daughter was put on Infliximab (Remicade) at the age of 17 for a severe outbreak of UC. She became so ill from the UC that she had to be hospitalized and no other medications were working. The alternatives were getting scary so they decided to try Infliximab. She started to do better very quickly. It can have some very severe side effects and they are to be considered, but we were at the place where it was our only option. She had eight Infliximab treatments and then they stopped the series (because she was doing better but also because of her age and the chance for side effects). It has been a year since she was hospitalized and so far she has been doing great. wife of Jerry PSC, UC and Mother of Amber UC
Guest guest
first, glad to hear your daughter is doing better. Thanks for the info on Remicade. That is what is happening with our nine year old boy. He just cannot get off the steroids without bleeding. Not a lot of blood but soft stools and blood every time he goes. So, the doctor is insisting on Remicade. I am just so afraid that he will have a bad reaction to it. You are telling me her Colitis is under control now since the Remicade? No blood ?
