Guest guest
, My dx of PSC and probable PBC took nearly 2 years, but here's the short version, lol. Last October I was diagnosed with PBC after elevated liver enzymes and 2 strongly positive AMAs. That along with my symptoms (fatigue, itchiness, URQ pain, enlarged liver, enlarged spleen), I was dx with it. I actually found out that I was pregnant 1 week before my dx so I wasn't able to have a liver biopsy or anything done. Seven weeks after my twins were born I had to have emergency laparotomy (abdominal surgery) and they did a liver biopsy then and the finding were not what they'd expect with PBC. So they did an MRCP just to make sure nothing was wrong. Much to my hepa's surprise it came back abnormal. I then had an ERCP and was told that I for sure have PSC. My hepatologist said that he's not seen a false positive AMA test for PBC so I may have very early stages of it and it's only showing up in blood work. So that's my story. Well the short version. I was devestated when I found out that I have these diseases but seeing the stories of the children and others on here, I feel blessed. I've been given 4 wonderful children and, despite the pain, fatigue, and itchiness I deal with, I'm not to bad off. I'm in the early stages of both so I hope that changing my eating habits and such will help keep me that way. I was always sick growing up. Having the mumps twice was crummy. I missed 2 months of school and all that but I lived. :-)Thank you for your kind words. Yes I'm stressing a little bit but I'm trying to stay positive. Hope you and Noah are well. from NE > > Sorry about your new dx. Do they really think you have both PSC and PBC?
