Working with insurance companies can be very difficult, so I actually had to hire 2 staff to handle insurance company claims. However, once u get the hang out of it, they begin paying regularly. The aba therapist should be billing the insurance company themselves, that should not be the responsibility of the parent. Moreover, if the parent has insurance that covers autism treatment, then there should be very little cost to the parent. Even if there is a copay or deductible, I work out arrangements with the families so in some cases I will pay a part or all of the copay for them. We (aba therapists) are here to help parents, not siphon money out of them. If anyone needs help with insurance company issues, let me know, I am credentialed with all major insurances and I have been doing it for a while.Adam Ventura

My insurance will cover 70%, but the provider won't file, I have to pay at $100/hr x 2 hr minimum twice a week..$400/week, then file a claim & maybe 6-8 weeks later, if I did paperwork correctly & it's not missing, I get $280 back? I'm still waiting on a claim from Feb.. I can't do this..

I wish we could duplicate you, as you are in the minority. I may be looking into a new ABA provider as I am about to change insurance and I am not sure if my usual provider will be a participating provider or not so I will keep your info for future reference. Thanks!
