Guest guest
Hello All~ My boyfriend was diagnosed with PSC/UC about 7 years ago. He had an endoscopy done today. His CBC has decreased over the last 4 weeks. He had an esphogeal varice rupture July 06. They found out today that he has 2 large varices in his stomach. Has anyone else dealt with this before? If so what treatment did they use to help out? Thank you, Loving Care Giver of Todd Kelli Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell. Guest guest
Hello Kelli, I probably don't have the exact information you're looking for but ... I currently have a couple of esophageal varices which have not ruptured. I've been put on a Beta blocker (Nadolol 20mg/day) which is supposed to decrease my heart rate and my systolic pressure, in order to avoid a rupture. So far it's worked out well. I was concerned that it would mess with my heart too much, but it hasn't. My blood pressure prior to Nadolol was typically 120/80, it's now typically 110/70-75. With heart rates typically in the upper 60's or lower 70's. I still try to exercise by running or doing pushups (not as often as I should). I was warned about getting dizzy if I push it. So far no dizziness. I hope this helps. I wish Todd and you the best of life. May God bless y'all - 45 PSC, Crohns 2000 > > Hello All~ > > My boyfriend was diagnosed with PSC/UC about 7 years ago. Guest guest
Thank you so much!! He is on Nadlol 40mg per day. We have been walking or biking at least 4 times a week around our neighborhood. We are hoping that will help out. His BP and heart rate are the same as yours! His Dr.'s at Duke UMC are trying to avoid putting in a shunt and are exploring other options. They are suppose to give us an idea of the next procedure by Friday. Thank you for your thoughts. I will always keep you guys and your caregivers in my thoughts and prayers. god bless, Kellimemcc238 wrote: Hello Kelli,I probably don't have the exact information you're looking for but ...I currently have a couple of esophageal varices which have not ruptured.I've been put on a Beta blocker (Nadolol 20mg/day) which is supposed todecrease my heart rate and my systolic pressure, in order to avoid arupture. Guest guest
dear kelli; i have been battling varices in my esophagus and stomach since march of 06. they have put me on medicine to lower my blood pressure, to prevent the varices from coming back. i also get an egd every 3 months and if there are varices i got back every 2 weeks to have them banded. as you know, this is a serious condition and i almost bled to death the first time i had a bleed. the banding is a pain, but you get used to it. pam dx 2001
