Guest guest
Hi everyone I am a new member and I thought it was time I introduced myself (I have been loitering behind the scenes for a few weeks!) My name is and I am aged 36 from the UK, I was finally diagnosed with PSC this month. I am happily married to my wonderful husband who has always taken very good care of me and I have a 5 year old black Labrador called who follows me around faithfully and always cheers me up when I am having a bad day! The first thing I wanted to say is what a fantastic group this is. Not only do you all offer each other much needed emotional support but the technical/medical guidance provided is first class. I am very happy to have found you all. My road to diagnosis has been an ongoing quest to find the truth for the last 20 years as unfortunately I have been ill since I had glandular fever (mono) at 17, my trigger for all my health problems I believe. It would take up too much of your time to explain my history now, but I'm sure the details will emerge as I make new friends. I will just summarise for now. After glandular fever (mono)in 1988 I had a few gynaecological issues and had recurrent endometriosis for the next 12 years or so which resulted in many operations & finally total hysterectomy in 2004. During this time I also had various joint problems, post viral illnesses, colitis, and was also diagnosed with osteopenia when I was 29. I also experienced lots of head scratching from many specialists and was told how unique I was countless times!(ok they might have said abnormal!) (I know many of you have experienced this as well). We all just find this funny now Following hysterectomy I was a new woman for 14 months! Until I hit the liver disease phase as I call it. Then gallbladder packed up & was removed, then gastroparesis, esophagitis & gastritis came next. Then finally also diagnosed with PSC. Phew I think that's it! Finally had some good news last week that confirmed I didn't have UC or Crohns. I am counting my blessings on that one. I have spent the last few weeks reading all info on the internet including the PSC literature site, Mayo clinic etc, so still processing. I have also found it invaluable reading the past posts from this group. I am trying to stay positive and keep everything in perspective and this group has really helped me to do this, so thank you. I also love all your inspiring quotes/mottos, some are even pinned on my fridge right now. I look forward to getting to know you all. Sorry for the long post I think I got a bit carried away! Best wishes
