Guest guest
My burning pain finally stopped with Elavil (100mg)in Dec. Sedation and weight gain made me switch to desiprimine (50mg). I feel terrible. I have nausea and stomach pain, drowsiness, and anxiety which has caused my pain to bounce back. I am now on 40mg and want to taper off. I hate the thought of switching back to Elavil. Neurontin and cymbalta did nothing. Only the elavil at 100mg stopped the pain. Three weeks ago I began taking an estrogen tablet 2x/wk called vagifem. This caused a migraine and subsequent nausea. I have stopped this 6 days ago. I would like to hear of your experience with desiprimine or elavil. Any advice would be appreciated. B. Guest guest
I'm sorry you're feeling so awful. I also had nausea and stomach pain with desipramine, but it went away after ~3 months. Some side effects remained (anorexia, dry mouth, insomnia) and the drug wasn't helping, so I switched to nortriptyline. My doctor had me go from 50mg/day of desipramine directly to 25mg/day of nortriptyline, which was a very easy transition. I had no nausea or stomach pain with the nortriptyline even on the first day. Unfortunately, the nortriptyline didn't work for my vulvar pain either. But you might want to ask your doctor if nortriptyline would be another tricyclic option for you. > > My burning pain finally stopped with Elavil (100mg)in Dec.
