Guest guest
Arne, What yoga tradition do you follow? I don't follow a particular tradition the studio that I study at has everything from Ashtanga and Kripalu to Iyengar classes. Before getting sick I went to a lot of Ashtanga classes and challenging vinyasa flow classes. Now, I'm more of a moderate class kind of girl which is physically easier for me but much more mentally challenging. I keep telling myself our injuries and illnesses can be our greatest teachers so adjusting to a less rigorous class and home practice is good for me. How do you think PSC has affected your practice? One of my teachers went to a workshop with Manuso Manos a few weeks ago. They had a question and answer session in which people asked how to accomodate injuries or illnesses into their practice and what postures would work best for them. Manuso told my teacher that I should focus on active and passive backbends and active twists. Just thought I'd share that with you. Namaste, Darcy I'm fairly religious with Yoga Need a vacation? Guest guest
I'm embarassed to say I have no idea - never took a class or any formal training. I actually started yoga before PSC diagnosis to address loss of flexibility (it's back now - not quite up to my gymnastic days, but not bad for an old guy). I also had back surgery in 1996, so yoga now substitutes for my back exercises. Since I'm currently asymptomatic, I can't say that PSC has affected my yoga at all. All I did was get a video at K-mart called " Yoga for Dummies " , although I do have a more advanced version now. :') Arne ---- Darcy Melzer wrote: ============= Arne, What yoga tradition do you follow? ... Guest guest
Yoga is yoga. If the video works for you that rocks. Target has a pretty good supply of yoga stuff too. :)Darcy > All I did was get a video at K-mart called " Yoga for > Dummies " , although I do have a more advanced version > now. > ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Yahoo! oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. http://mobile.yahoo.com/mobileweb/onesearch?refer=1ONXIC
