Hello,

We (Radiant Life) have stopped carrying the Omega and are carrying an

extra virgin coconut oil that smells and tastes like coconut. The

difference between the two oils has been discussed on this list, and

Shilavy from the ines and others have described the

minimal processing, minimal heat, and other measures taken to ensure

the maximumization of nutrients.

We are going to be testing a new coconut oil in the next couple weeks

which has never had -any- heat applied to it, and which may be the

ultimate coconut oil we have found. Will let the group know what we

discover.

And yes, our web site is not up to date as it is being totally

redesigned and updated.

Best,

Cogswell

The virgin does taste slightly of coconuts: but so far people like it. It

grows on you, like the taste of olive oil. I'd imagine the virgin is

better, but I don't know about the processes used for the other, or what

kinds of heats are used. I bought some " non virgin " oil for my first batch

and it was much different: it may have been hydrogenated though. Either one

would be better than most oils! The Virgin does seem better to me, fresher,

but it's based on intuition or taste or something, not anything I've read.

Some people do eat it raw, for health. I like it as a cooking oil though,

and for baking cookies (instead of Crisco!), though butter is good too. It

really ups your metabolism, good for quick energy: I'd like to make a

" protein bar " of some kind with it to take on the road. I got it originally

for my son, who is tube-fed and was prone to nasal infections. He just got

over a cold -- and no antibiotics! That's a first! It seems to have cleared

me up too, but that could also be the diet.

Also, if you pulverize rice in a Vitamix with Coconut oil it makes a

" cream " that is richer than Rice Dream: I think it has great potential for

smoothies or milkless milkshakes (for people who can't tolerate milk or

want a change).
